The screen is too small to make a real difference, even the Nokia's with 4096 colours are not that great - to notice the difference you need a Sharp GX-10 or Panasonic GD-87 with 65,535 colours (and a 132x176 pixel screen on the Panasonic).
Also, power consumption will go up as the screen gets bigger and brighter.

I disagree. The difference is really noticeable between 256 colours and 4096 colours e.g. between T68 and 7210. |

I'm totally agree with SuperG it's very noticeable the 4096 colors.
Moreover, the screen on Nokia 7210/6610 is a TFT Screen that brings more brightness and sharper images.

As I've written earlier.
The diff in viewing, on a 35x35mm screen is bigger if you upgrade from 256 to 4096 colors, than it is between 4096 and 65 000 colors.
And with the MMS rollout, why only 256 colors? Viewing a photo on 256 colors, who can say for sure what it's about? On a 4096 color screen you can! |

wrond, 7210 and 6610 still use STN screen as T68i, and they are not as bright as T68i's screen |

Sony has a new screen technology... 206,000 colors... 320x480 res.
I doubt anyone else has similar technology. That's like an 18-bit or so screen. |

2 Caff:
Not true, the 7210 is a passive matrix TFT display... and it is much better than a 256 color, despite the fact that it is not bright enough. it has smaller pixels, thus looks more sophisticated and anyway you look at it it is still 20 times more color than the 68's screen. it is simply better... However, those Samsungs S100's are stn, therefore they are not as good as even t100, t100 seems much blrighter and better, so that 65k does not make up for its status, when gd87 (or wahtever the name is) will come out, that is where the best screen will be.
