W810i Disc2Phone / Memory Card Corruption |

Hello,
I just recently purchased a W810i it was great for a couple of days then I noticed something strange. When I load a lot of files at once onto the memory card using the Disc2Phone software some if not all of the files will not make it over. The first couple hundred megs go fine then it starts to act up. I have read the thread on the w800i corruption fix thinking it may be similar but that was a no go for me. What is interesting is if after the files transfer I see them in the folder but when I safetly remove the device they disapear. It really does make it to the folder too because before removing the device I tried to launch a song right from the memory stick and it played fine. Also when I try to take a picture after the mishap with the folders the preview will come out fine however later upon viewing my pictures I will only get a black screen or a corrupt picture. Interestingly if I delete the last or last couple of mp3's I have transferred (the "corrupt" ones) I can then take pictures normally again. I'm running firmware R4CK003, I have a 2Gig Sony MS and I am transferring the files using the included USB cable. Please let me know if you need anymore info. Thanks for the adivce/help guys.
-Nick

dont use the disc2phone software anymore, to transfer the files from your computer to your phone, just drag and drop the mp3 files, simple and easy.... just make sure you create an artist folder then a sub-folder under it named the album, then the mp3 files from your computer, after that you can now transfer the files to your w810.... |

And the walkman feature will recognize it? I can use iTunes to "convert" it right? I appreciate your reply I will try that. Thanks a lot. |

Gave that a go and still nothing. It appears to be getting lost during the disconnection phase. Almost like it doesn't detach it correctly so it loses anything that was recently written. This has happened on 2 different PC's I have tried. One with disc2phone and drag/drop the other just drag/drop. |

you are using a DCU-60 cable when attaching your phone to your pc right? do your computer recognizes your memory stcik as a removable drive? if so there is no problem then when drag and drop an mp3 would do... have you drag and drop the mp3 to the audio folder in your memory stick? for your walkman to see the mp3 you should make a, folder/subfolder/mp3 tracks, to work or else you would see the mp3 @ tracks function on your walkman not in your artist function... it doesnt matter what mp3 converter you use, i use real one media player when converting my cd to mp3 tracks..... the worst case, is that your memory stick has the problem..... |

I am using the USB cable yes. I finally got it to work sort of where it saved it on the card but never showed up on the phone other than the fact that I noticed my free space decrease. The 2 gig is one that came included with the phone through a purchase. I didn't even get the 512 just the 2gig. I don't believe it is fake as the serial number worked to download the data recovery app. The data just doesn't seem to stick it is very frustrating as the phone seems nice other than this. Thanks for your response maybe I can borrow a friends working memory card and try that.

Thanks for all your help. It looks like I found out the culprit. It's a 1GB memory stick rebadges/flashed as a 2GB. So it says 2GB free when blank (minus overhead ofcourse) but it's a fake. So I'll have to contact the store I purchased it from. Thanks again. |

Wow man .. Tricky guys aren't they ? I wanned to say to you that you try converting music files to AAC (128 Kbs should be enough) , as they are less in size than Mp3 and has supperior quality at low-bitrates. Goog Luck! |
