Hi there. Can someone please help. For some reason neither my laptop nor my desktop pc recognise my phone. I've searched various forums and cant find anything on the subject (which makes me think its not a common problem, and therefore i am doing something stupidly wrong!!)
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!
Cheers |

Have you made sure that the phone is in USB File transfer mode? I have noticed that when using the cable, it will only work on my comp using the file transfer mode, if you have it in phone mode the computer won't see it. |

First if all you want to do is transfer music you don’t need to install the software as windows will see the phone as a memory stick
When you connect the phone is it listed in the device manager with a question mark
When you install the drivers first before the PC suite do you point them to program files/sonyericsson/k800i folder or what ever the path is as windows wont find them automatically BAD BAD windows

I downloaded the software from SE and it came in 2 parts the driver which had to be installed first the then PC suite but if you installed from the CD it probably done it together have a look in the SE folder is their a K800i driver folder if so you need to go to that question mark and right click and update the driver pointing to the K800 folder |

IT should appear as a seperate drive called removable disk(right?) |

The phone/memory card should appear as a seperate removable harddrive if you set it to 'file transfer mode'. In phone mode you can just use the phone manager to browse the phone and copy/paste items to and from your PC.
Also, I found that if you already had drivers for the older USB cables that came with the k750i/w800i/w810i you'd need to uninstall any SE software such as the old SEUS etc. Then you can install the new drivers - with mine I had to plug in the phone, go into device manager and then install the drivers manually.
The above also works for getting SEUS to run properly with the k800i.

I had no problems setting up the synch process on my work PC but spent hours on my lap top at home. In the end it seems that it was not selecting an empty Com Port. In the end made manual change of Port using "Phone & Modem Options" in "Control Panel". I matched it to the Com Port (No 3 for me) shown in the "Phone Monitor Options" in "Tools" in the SE PC Suite.
This worked OK for me but suggest you keep record of what you change in case it effects any other devices that you use. |
