Here is the simple way of converting themes, only for newbies--just like me. Frankly speaking, I'm not an expert in this area, nor imaging, I just do this as a 'hobby' to kill the time.
Many people want to get original W900 themes or K800 themes, for instance, for their K750. As a note, the screen size of the two phones is different greatly. That's why, a conversion in terms of dimensions is needed. The two phones have similar-or maybe almost the same-- theme structures. There are e.g. Standby, Desktop Highlight, Row Title, Activity Menu and many more. Only, the size in pixel is different.
On the other hand, if you want to convert K800 themes for K700, you will find out that the theme structure is very different. You won't need Activity Menu image in K700.
Below is what I usually do to convert theme. Please, correct me if I'm mistaken..I want to convert a CyberShot theme of K800 to be working in K750.
1. You must ready with the Theme Creator--it's free from SE. Learn it carefully, especially the term used to refer to images such as "Desktop, Highlight, Activity Menu or Pop Up". Pay attention to the size of each image. For example, Standby is 176x220, Standby Softkey is 176 x 26.
2. Extract the CyberShot K800 theme by using WinRar. Save the extracted images from the theme in a specific folder in your PC.
3. Open Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Image Ready.
4. To edit animated image (gif file) you must use Adobe Image Ready. Click File-Open- choose the file you want to convert-Click Image-Image Size-Untick Constrain proportion- resize the image (width and height) according to K750 specification (e.g. Standby Image is 176 x 220)- OK. Then click File-Save Optimised As. Rename the image in such a way so that you won't get confused later on. For instance, rename it into "Standby K750" or "PopUp K750", etc. You have the resized file for K750 then.
You must do this for each animated files.
5. To edit jpeg or png files, just use Adobe PhotoShop. Click File-Open- choose the file you want-Click Image-ImageSize-untick Constrain Proportions- resize in width and height according to K750 specification-OK-click File- Save As-OK. Once again, do these for each file in the folder.
6. After finishing resizing all images, open Theme Creator.
7. Choose K750 phone.
8. Install the CyberShot K800 theme in K750 theme. There will be a window popping out saying that there is a theme conflict. Just click OK. This is to make 'color elements' like slider, wapbrowser and color of fonts remain as original as the K800 theme.
9. Remove all images attached in all structures one by one until no K800 images attached there anymore.
10. Then 'import' the resized images one by one in any each part carefully. If you make a mistake, the Theme Creator will warn you that the image dimension is not correct.
11. Save or Save as.
12. You can click the preview to see how the CyberShot K750 looks like.
13. Finished. Just transfer your new theme via data cable or bluetooth.
As a note, personally I say that we must respect Sony Ericsson copyright in creating this theme. I suggest that the conversion is only for personal use. Although I have almost all original K800/W900/K700/V800/K500/Z1010 converted-themes to be working on my K750, I prefer not sharing them with you all. Please, do this work by yourself. At least you can enjoy the 'pain'. It's not a matter of wasting time actually, but rather a 'hobby'.
Anyway, our fellow in http://www.se-handy-world.de/SE-Themes-K750i.html has converted many original SE themes for us. Enjoy.
Cheers, from Indonesia.
