new feature idea regarding views of threads |

Hey all... just a sugestion... how differcult would it be to add another piece of info into the 'Views' of a post... So that not only can you see how many times its been viewed in total (like now), but also you can see how many independant views you recieve..
To help people understand what i mean i will explain more now. if i start a thread, the chances are i will look back in there... once i have done this the 'views' changes to 1... if i go back in the 'views' changes to 2 and so on... even tho only one party (me) has looked at it....
This is not a big thing but i figure it'll stop people thinking - why the heck are there 600 views and only 2 replies...... (answer maybe only 2 people have actually viewed this page - 300 times each) - ok thats extreme examples but i hope you get what i mean now
Whats everyones views on this?
All the best
Lee

tricky...
what is a unique view?
1. it can't be limited to the member id because unregistered people also view
2. it can't be limited to the IP address as many of us have dynamic IP addresses or view thread through different means such as PC, phone etc
3. Also with IP many people share the same IP address if they are coming through a gateway or a network providers GPRS system
so, what is a unique view?

i see what you mean there masseur... ummm... maybe it could just be the number of different members viewing it... and then the guests will add on to the other number... which would be called something like total number of views...
I can see how this would be tricky, and whether the work put in / benifit gained is really worth it..
It was just a thought i had the other night really
soemthing to think about

I also have a suggestion.
When replying to a post, is it possible to view previous posts at the bottom of screen? |

On that - it would also be handy if the 'click here to view your post' link (and similar auto page redirection) actually took you back to the page where your post is displayed, rather than the very first page of the thread?
My browser always takes me to post #1 at least, I don't find it to be the handiest thing, IMO. Cheers

That would make this a Firefox compatability issue then? Hm.
I'll try upgrading to the latest version. Does anyone else use Firefox with Esato? Cheers.

I've suggested this some months ago but how difficult is it really to impliment a system whereby you can see all the members online.

I find it rather odd...reading the last post on the very first page!

@jasond
Yeah, I'm using firefox and I encounter the same problem. I just go back and refresh the page now to find my new post.

As for the replying of posts, a quick reply button would be good, like the one over at se-nse

might be handy to straight shown the Smiley under the post reply section.. and like what @786KBR said.. it would be nice to have 10 or more last post under it aswell |
