is this phone worth getting or are there better phones out there by sony ericsson. i thought about the w810i but i know the 900 could do a little more. isnt the 900 going to be discontinued soon? if so, wont they stop making updates for the phone? or will they keep making firmware updates for the phone n such. what else are some good options besides the 900. i've been looking at alot of the phones and it only seems to come down to the 900 810 or k800. is there lag with either of the 3 phones?

W900 is leaps and bounds ahead of W810. Huge screen, 3D accelerator, VGA video recording at 30FPS, AF turn on/off option. Sexy design! 470MB internal memory.
As for the discontinuation, so what? W800's been discontinued aswell, but we still love it.

Reason for discontinuation doesnt mean it has flaws, it usually means there's a better model coming, but since there isnt any swivel SE coming in the near future, the chances of W900 being discontinued are very slim.
As for the firmware, I think they'll still be available.

If you're after a good multimedia device then go for the W900i.

I got one recently and its outstanding, really.

The video 30fps is excellent, cam has 32x digital zoom, has a good player and loads of internal memory and you will never have to squint at the screen.

Only let down that I can see is the lack of built in radio, which means you can listen to the radio but you can't have it on loudspeaker, which I like to do.

Actually I do see the W900 disappearing. And I wouldn't say the chance of it being discontinued are slim, look here for another discussion on the W900's fate: http://forums.se-nse.net/inde[....]88a47edf98b9073&showtopic=3720

Yeah, I took part in that debate.

They were saying the W900i was a test bed for lots of technology wanted to deploy, also that thinks the swivel phones are too big when loaded with tonnes of tech and won't be releasing any more.

I always thought it wouldn't be too much of a challenge to make it slimmer, I'm sure Samsung would've got there (did I just say that!)

It makes the W900i even more preccccciiooouuus.

The w900i is brilliant, and with the accessories it has a new lease of life. I have registered for the w850, apart from the design it similar to the 900 but with stereo bluetooth.
k700 & K750, then w800 now i got a w900i + 1GB+512mb+hbh-602+mmr-60(sold),mmc-60,cla-60,hch-63

my friends sister has one and at first she said there was no lag with the phone but now she has lag within programs...could it be a problem that happens along the way? what do you mean by registered for the w850? meaning preordering it? when is it supposed to come out so that mabe i could just wait for that one cause i like the idea of a slider phone rather than a swivel one

Trust me, my friend has had it for almost a year or so, and its fantastic as ever. Although durability isnt SE's thing, but this is something special. Look at the K800, even that phone has a worst video recording than a year old model.

Not to burst your bubble but the phone was made public after october last year. came out november or december, so no one in our dimension has had the phone for a year.

anyway, great phone. i have trouble getting my firmware treated as i live in africa and as things go here it is quite a mission to get that done.
i use the phone to watch movies, internet (using it to post this) and alot more.
