Is there anyone here who knows how the porting process works and can give me a definitive answer to this?

I'm on an O2 contract purchased through an O2 High Street Retail store.

I want to stay on O2 and keep my number but get my new K800 from Carphone Warehouse (or e2save.com - same company).

O2 (direct) say I (possibly) can't do it.

CPW say I can because they use their own, different, billing system.

When I tried to order the phone from e2save.com, after choosing the O2 tariff I wanted, the option to choose to port my number from O2 had gone, only all the other networks were listed.

However, on the e2save web-site it says "If you are porting from O2 Direct to O2 CPWS then it is likely that your port will activate on your original SIM Card." which suggests it can be done, even though the option is not there.

Any one know?

I've got my PAC code from O2 Direct.

The reason I want to port my number from O2 Direct to O2 CPW is that O2 Direct simply can't match the deal I've been offered by CPW/e2save.

O2 want me to pay £179.99 for the K800 as an upgrade on my current contract. Whereas, CPW/e2save will give me the phone for free on exactly the same tariff (obviously not as an upgrade, but as a new contract - which I don't mind).

Have u talked to the retention team yet? I pay £49.99 for the K800i as I am on a reduced price o2 200 ( £15 per month )

Maybe u could just port your existing number to a o2 PAYG then buy the K800i from e2save then it might work as u could always transfer your existing PAYG number to contract.
