K800 wma tag info |

most of my music is ripped from my CDs into wma format as generally I'm using it on windows mobile devices, or my pc using windows media player
now that K800 seems to support wma (its mentioned in the white paper but strangely not mentioned in the manual) I have copied some mp3's and some wma's to the memory stick.
they all play ok however the tag info is picked up from the MP3's and so they are listed by artist and album but all the wma are listed as unknown artist/unknown album although all the tag info is in there just the same and I can see it in windows media player
has anyone managed to work out whats wrong here or is it simply that wma is supported, but only in format and not in tag info?
btw, all my CDs are in storage in Sydney and I do plan to re-rip them late this year, but until then I am stuck with what I have got and I don't plan to convert from wma to mp3
any input welcome

Sorry I cannot offer a solution but I can confirm the same behaviour as you are seeing.
MP3s with tags are listed under artist>album etc but WMAs with tag information (as seen when they are playde in the media player) are always listed as unknown. My WMAs are from a Media Center Edition PC which is very picky when it comes to tags so I'm certain theres no missing info.... |

I've just tried it with a few different WMA codecs with the same results. I think its a problem with the phone, not the WMA itself, because the tags display fine on the PC and can be edited ok with dBpowerAMP.
Maybe they will sort it with a future firmware update, I remember the K700 didn't like AAC tags (not sure if the K750 or K800 do, haven't tried).

Yeah probably something to be introduced in a furure firmware update, wma being new to the phones etc. But the wma files play alright yeah?

if I start a wma from the player menu it does take up to about 20 seconds to get going but if I am playing atrack and use the joystick to go to the next or previous its virtually instant so possibly something there to be fixed too.
but once playing then they play well

I had problems with the "Windows Media Audio 10 Professional" codec, the file would open but no sound came out, but it was only one track so that could be nothing.
