I recently got a K800i, just to realise that my problem with disappearing contact with my network wasn't phone related but SIM card related. The contact with the network disappears pretty often, it's hard to make calls and it's hard to call me... not to mention WAP. Is there anything I could do to solve this problem? I called my operator support and the support guy told me that I could send the card in and get a new one (if they discover the problem), but that would take one week or so.

Would it help to clean it or something? The card is about five years old, so maybe it's impossible to fix.

I have an old sim-card as well, and have been experiencing some problems. I found out that it was very slightly bent, so that some parts of it were not touching the connectors in the phone. See (crappy ) illustration below:

1. Check that your sim is lying completely flat against the connectors in the phone.
2. Give the gold-coloured part a light clean (don't use anything abrasive).
3. Make sure that no dirt/fluff etc. is on the connectors on your phone.

If you follow the above steps, and it still doesn't work, I would think that it might be worn beyond use. You might have to get a new one.

Hope this helps [addsig]

SIM cards also wear out over time, so it is a good idea to have it replaced every two years.

Thanks for the replies! I just realised that I can order a free 3G SIM card from my operator, so I did that and will probably get a new one in a couple of days.
