This seems to be quite a common issue with the PSP. You can download an MP4 video that constanty flashes colours accross the screen. Apparently some people have had success fixing dead or frozen pixels on LCD screens using this. I tried it on my own LCD monitor but it had no effect tho! I ran the bloody thing for 12 hours!
I don't know where the video is to download but if you search Google for PSP and "dead pixel fix" you'll prob find it!
Worth a try!

A "frozen" pixel can be fixed but not a "dead" one.
AFAIK, this is covered under warranty, and they SHOULD provide you with a replacement LCD.

arent 1 to 6 dead pixels scattered across the screen on an LCD common? i have a friend who does tech support for LCD screens and he once told me that these are a common manufacturing issues; you can never have all million pixels perfected. this doesnt bother me at all. im not sure if the same applies to cell phone LCD screens

Well, SE's service is one of the best here, and the worst service guys are from Blokia.
But in any case, give it a try - no one would sit mum with a problem like that - have a word with them , and if need be, give them a piece of your mind - It's a manufacturing defect, god dammit and they are BOUND to service it!

On the Warranty PDF file for SE phones (downloadable from SE support website), it says:
Quote:

Minor variations in display brightness and color may occur between
the phones. There may be small, bright or dark dots on the display.
These are called defective pixels and occur when individual dots have
malfunctioned and cannot be adjusted. Two defective pixels are
deemed acceptable.

More interesting is that most LCD manufacturers have written into their warranty that up to 3 or 4 dead or frozen pixels is acceptable and that they won't replace the screen if this occures!!
Very bloody annoying if your playing a flight sim and you keep mistaking that "dead" pixel as an enemy target and spend several minutes following it wondering why your not getting any closer!!!!!!

Strange, I went to SE Support UK website and selected the W900. The Warranty information link isn't there.
Try choosing W800 or K610 as your phone while under SE Support (I tried UK) and there should be a link to the Warranty information document file. |
