You'll have to be a bit more specific. iTunes will rip CDs to MP3.

iTunes. That can convert files to lower bitrates and such.

The Creative software I find is very very good for this...

mp3 compression = compressing mp3 files

not really sure how i can be more specific unless i state what bitrate, frequency etc i want it compressed to.

Thanks though, i will try Itunes.
What is the creative software called and where can i get it?

If you're talking about converting 128kbps mp3 into 64kbps or something like that, then xilisoft 3gp converter does the job.

Has anyone worked out how to play videos on the phone yet?
i managed to get a short video working but it was low quality and not full screen.

Any videos.
Videos that have been uploaded to the phone from a computer
I cant get any videos to work at 320*240 yet, only Qcif.

Whats wrong with Qcif? Increase the bit rate and u got your self a DVD quality video!

You could also use Windows Media Player, it already comes installed on the computer (if you have a Windows) so there's an easy way. Doesn't convert to aac, and I'm doubt the K800 supports WMA. WMA and AAC both sound better than Mp3 at the same bitrate, so you can save some space with them.

Errmm, what?
Qcif is 176*144 (Sony Ericsson k800i screen is 320*240)
QVGA = 324*240
VGA = 640*480
Dvd Quality = 720*480

Sorry, i meant cif. At 320x240 resolution, with high bitrate, you can get excellent video quality

CDeX is what I use. It offers Lame as the mp3 compression and it works quite well.
