Bluetooth USB Dongle (BlueSoleil) problems - win98/nokia n91 |

Against all the odds, I have BlueSoleil v1.6.0 working on my laptop PII win98 (not SE). However I have the following 2 main problems:
1.
I can only connect 3 services - DialUp Networking, File Transfer and Object Push. All other started services have Connect/Disconnect greyed out. In particular, I want to connect the Serial Port Service. I assigned all ports to my N91 phone device in Tools>Configurations>quick connect. No problems are highlighted in Windows Device Manager, it shows Bluelet(COM5 to 15) under Ports(COM & LPT).
2.
In File Transfer Service, I can browse the phone’s memory and hard disk folders, and transfer files in both directions. However transmission speed is very slow when transferring from laptop to phone (around 6kb(ytes)ps. Its much faster transferring from phone to laptop, around 70kb(ytes)ps.
I did have problems getting BlueSoleil to work at all. The win98 ntkern.vxd driver-loader failed to load the supplied Bluetooth driver. I extracted ntkern.vxd from a win98SE CD and copied it to Windows/System/vmm32, and this solved that problem. Note I cant install Win98SE, it complains about my current Win98 OS.
Widcomm solutions will not work, as they require Windows 98SE or better. My E-mails to support@bluesoleil.com have been totally ignored as have the queries I posted on their forum.
I would appreciate any ideas/help on the above 2 problems. I have MyPhoneExplorer which wont work because BlueSoleil's Serial Port Service wont connect. I would also like a faster file transfer from laptop to phone, to make use of the phone's 4gb disk.

... I forgot to describe the Bluetooth product I'm using. It just says "Bluetooth USB Dongle" on the box, and there was no paper documentation supplied. A BlueSoleil software mini CD was included. The very-small Blue-colour Dongle just has "Bluetooth" written on it. |

I am using BlueSoleil too-no problem with my K750i. The speed is 20-80 kbps. Maybe your dongle is ' a faulty product'? |

I get 60-80kbps copying From the phone, I can live with that. The problem is copying To the phone, very slow. Yep I suppose it could be a poor/faulty Dongle. Maybe I should try another dongle product. | |
