My original 02 branded phone re-flashed to resolve a software issue now has the following CDA (presumably indicating unbranded)

CDA102511/2 R1A

3 branded Swedish(European?) K800i:

RICB001
CDA102511/70

Thinking of unbranding this one but I haven't seen someone with a 3 branded swedish phone yet...

-edit- lol, three years without a single post from me... I'll try to be more active now.

Thanks for the CDAs! Azt - sorry not to add your CDA. I only keep tabs of the UK CDAs i'm afraid. I can't easily verify the others!!

Got this phone a few weeks back on Vodafone. I hate the branding but thankfully Davinci have now released v16.4 which supports debranding of the K800i. I cant get rid of the damn screen cover branding though which is a pain but ill live.

My first question is, which is the best region to flash my phone to in order to ensure my phone is one of the first to update via SEUS (As i know some regions have to wait longer than others to update). I live in the UK so i assume i need the following:

K800 R1CB001:EU1 CDA102511/2 (Generic UK)

Is that correct?

My second question is, has anyone else had complaints from people on the other end of the line in regard to echo? I have had three seperate people now tell me that the can hear an echo of themselfs and that they can hardly hear me speak. The problem seems to get a little better if i turn down the earpiece volume but they tell me its still there.

RA.

[RebEdit] BTW, the CDA for Vodafone UK is CDA102511/15 if you want to add it to the first post. If you want me to post the whole software info screen readout let me know.[/RebEdit]

Hi Guys

Im New here but i got an Orange Branded K800i. I have seen that there have been no orange users posting so i thought i would give you some information.

Firmware Version: R1CB001

CDA: CDA102511/47

Quick Review: So far so good. Not had any problems that other users have had with the RSS or anything. There are a few things, however, that orange have removed in their customisation. Firstly, like vodafone, they have removed the update service. Secondly, they have removed the photo blogging function. I havent heard any comments on this so far so i don't know what it performs like. I was contemplating debranding it but i havent got any major issues with the orange branding at present.

Question: Has anyone found that with the camera in 'Fine' mode, the image is brighter and not as clear? Also i will post a sample photo and would like comments on if the quality is similar to yours.

Regards

Danny
(Both taken in 'Fine' Mode)

Thanks for the updated CDAs guys! Just missing 3 now!

> which is the best region to flash my phone to in order

SEUS doesn't only take into account the CDA of your phone to determine which firmware to flash. Personally I would not change the CDA of your phone as you could end up with a phone that won't update via SEUS at all!

If this is the case why does each network have its own CDA? I had assumed that the firmware and CDA needed to match in order for SEUS to work?

So if i flash the R1CB001 EU1 with changing the CDA will it update to non Vodafone firmware via SEUS when it becomes available?

RA.

[RebEdit]

Which version of JBenchmark did you use for the test? Ill check mine to see if there is any difference between the generic unbranded firmware and the Vodafone specific release.

Also Davinci now supports K800i flashing so you may want to add it to the first post.

Around one month. The K750 was released on 16th of May, the buggy R1J was released on 13th June and fixed R1L was released on the 30th June.

How quick new firmwares are released depends on how buggy the previous firmware was. SE have done an excellent job with the K800 in that R1CB is incredibly stable for a first firmware - unlike, for example, R1A044 on the K750, which was prone to fairly frequent crashes.

Note that it was almost 3 months after the stable R1L came out on the K750 that R1N was released.

One thing I would like to mention, is the sluggish sms"performance"..
I don't use t9, I just use multitap with the "joystick-down" trick for writing sms quickly. However, this phone just doesn't work using that technique. My old k750 had no problems what-so-ever. Example:

"I was up all night long" looks like this: "I was up alk nhgth kong". Multitapping is just too laggy. I notice the letter-selector in the top-right window hangs a little every now and then aswell, usually 4-5 times everytime I write a message.
To me, this seems like something which can be optimized by software. The buttons on the phone are good to use, although a little small.

Yes, I've doublechecked that my "technique" is in working order. ;)

@ spcdust

If you want to check for updates for your Voda K800i just attach the supplied USB cable and use the Sony Ericsson Update Service.

looks like davinci team have K800i support now.

However on their website they claim to have supported K800i since 13 July, which they clearly hadn't last week. Anyone want to give this a go and see if there are any differences with flashing on wotanserver?

Although I don't use such antiquated methods of writing text messages myself ( ) I too have sound typing SMSes to be less reliable than on the K750 and earler phones. It does seem that the phone can't keep up with the user if they type too quickly.
