Battery Life in Japan |

I was at the Broadcast show in London on Wednesday and a guy from Forbidden technologies was explaining that in Japan mobile phones have much much longer battery life than the phones we get here, he was demoing using a Nokia N90 movie phone and was saying that in Japan this phone is laughed at as his mates phones battery lasts 80 days! seems mad to me but he was up in front of a lot of people, any one have any more info on the subject?
I have owned the ... T68i T610, P800, P900, P910, P990, W950, P1, W960 But SE have now totally lost the plot. |

no offense...but 80 days on any nokia...they're bloody bricks here....so over there they must be the size of cars or something! - you'd need a very big battery for a mobile phone to last 80 days, seeing as some only last a day or less over here.

EDIT - just looked at the vodafone japan website that fatreg posted a link too - wow they have good phones over there...even though vodafone japan isn't owned by vodafone any more, is it? (thought they sold japan off :S) - and also, it seems that 3g is much more wide-spread over there! wish there was a vodafone 3g signal where i lived seeing as i have a 3g phone...i've just got to get loads of people to write to them that have 3g phones (which i know quite a few now), and then they may upgrade our basestation wooooot!)

Absolute nonscence, Japanese phones had the worst battery life ever especially the docomo range...Whilst over there I had to recharhe my AU phone once every two days... only reason they will have better signal boils down to two things.
1)Good reception so the phone is not constantly seeking a signal and loosing power.
2)There underground system is not really as deep as ours (realistically its overhead in my opinion) and they have signal on the line so again its not like you on the tube and your phone is been drained seeking a signal again.
So yeah they do slightly perfom better I would say...but not 80 days thats a joke..

Thanks guys I have got to say I was sceptical hence the post, with all the new features and services being promised especialy mobile TV I reckon battery life is going to be the bigest challenge the manfacturers face.
