Orange "Make your own tarriff" |

Has anyone else noticed that the "make your own tarriff" is kinda sucky?
For example you have to have talktime, so you can't have a text-only package.
Are there enough people interested in a petition to Orange to get them to reconsider that restriction?
What packages would people like to get (if you had a free choice)?

Very much doubt it although I agree it sucks. The advertising and general spend on a change like this is massive, and Orange had a real problem with the massive network load every evening at 7pm, which this is going some way towards alleviating. I'm on Everyday 50 and I'm definitely keeping it! |

Yeah, but I'm thinking of setting up an SMS automation system, so that I can control my PC via SMS.
The line I use for that will only ever send/receive text, and will never make a call.
OK, it's a bit unusual, but surely the point of creating your own tarriff is to make one to suit your needs? |

Go into Carphone Warehouse and they do a text only bundle for £18 a month which gives 300 text on vodafone.
I don't know if people like phones4u do it as well but I definetly know CPW do.

I found an O2 300-text for £10/month package on QXL.
300-wap-mintes as well, but that's no use to me.

orange do a talkplan called Orange Link (I think it's called that) for business customers - exactly what u want - u can use it to send/receive texts to like vending machines or the status of what your car is doing - oil levels - tyre pressure that sort of thing.

Couldn't find it... Ornage Link seems to be a leased line to Orange to route voice calls from a PBX.
Do you have any more info?

In the end I went for the 300-text O2 SIM
Works out at about 3.3p per message (assuming you use all 300 in a month)

still sorting it out.. as it does save a hell of a lot of money !!!
www.genie.co.uk will re-direct and you can just get a sim if you want thats what i did |
