hi guys,
Just wondering, if a phone has been released in some countries, and it has not been released yet in Australia, and the networks have not yet tested it, will the phone still work in my country even though the netwroks havnt tested?

Should do. Even if the network hasnt tested it it should work as long as the phone has the right frequencies for your network.

How would one go about unlocking if this happened. Would i need to contact that network overseas?

not always,

depends on what phone you buy, SE, Samsung and most Nokis can be unlocked by a computer so as long as you know the old operator you should be well away.

what phone are you looking at?

even in oz we have plenty of people that can unlock phones in high street shops or markets, or just use any of the online unlocking services such as davinci if you're talking about getting SE phones

what sort of shops. I know there a lot of Asian phone stores in the city here in Melbourne that do these sort of things. So guess they could do it. Is this what you meant Masseur?
Im looking at n80 or w900, i was going to buy in here in Australia, but that didnt eventuate. the w900 i can get will be unlocked but vodafone branded, but the n80 MAY be locked

yeah, they are mostly the asian ones that do it. In Sydney I see them all the time at Paddys and Parklea markets for example. Its been a year or so since I was in Melbourne but check out St Kilda markets etc.

Davinci can decustomise a W900 according to their site.

I was home a couple of months ago and I'll be heading back home again in October so if I can bring anything and post locally just ask nearer the time

yea the asian shops are every where in the city, and i mean everywhere.
Your another one who moved from melb to syd hey Masseur. My brother did the same thing but is coming back to live at end of year. imo Melbourne is better. i dont mind syd, but again melb is no.1 city in the world.

With regards to post local when you come, if anything comes to mind ill let you know mate.

And davinci will be used to debrand if i chose to get that. I cant decide, n80 or w900.
cheers

I am still undecided. Well Melbourne was voted no.1 most liveable city in the world recently, not this year though i dont think. You should come for a holiday here, Melbourne is by far the best city for me...
