N80 Mini SD Issue, advice needed please! |

I was fortunate enough to get hold of an N80 the other week, after a few days i decided to invest in a new 1Gb Mini SD card for it, as the 128mb provided soon filled up with my rubbish! I bought one only to find the phone rejected it with " memory card corrupted" warning, i was lucky enough to live in the same city as the seller so i arranged to meet and he brought another one, a Kingston the same as the first, however this caused the same error message. We formatted the card on his laptop and added an image however the N80 just refused to accept the card... i'm now wondering wether its the phone and if so is it a known issue, anyone heard of this or help me out?
cheers

Had a similar problem with my RSMMC and N70 when first purchased-you need to buy a dual voltage memory card (i.e. 3/5volt). Don't ask me why, It's a Nokia thing!

Well i stuck my 1gb Kingston in my N80 today reformatted and it works a treat, there aint any varients of mini sd's like rs-mmc's etc, have you tried the card in another phone? If so and it does'nt work obviously it is to do with the card if not could be the phone

I tried it with another phone and a USB card reader/wroter but it still came up with the same fault, initially the card refused to be formatted, stating it was "write protected" but after a few attempts it finally formatted OK, however it still came up as "corrupted" when inserted into the phone, this happend with 2 new "out of the packaging" cards, both Kingston...i hope its not a fault on the phone or a known issue...Nokia have a long tradition of issuing handsets without testing properly and leaving it up to the public to find faults...
cheers anyway
