I'll just get to the point... basically my dumbass friend dropped her cell phone in the water and it died... she asked me if she could use my phone and being the nice guy I am, i let her use it. Few min later she gave it back to me, it seemed fine, she didn't drop it into the water or anything, I put it in my pocket and we left, as I'm walking back I took my phone out to check the time and the screen flickered for a instant second and just went dull. I turned it off and turned it back on and it was completely white... so I just turned it off thinking its some type of glitch that will fix itself.

Next day I turned my phone back on and the same thing happened, thats when I observed my phone and had found that the area where u plug the charger/headphones in had a little bit of corrosion. I figured that her hands were still wet from being in the water, some of the water got into the phone.

Today I took the phone apart and found more corroded areas. Here are a few pics of where the corrosion was.

The circled area, there was a little bit here and there, and the part thats squared out, my phone has about 6 or 7 small chips there that are not pictured (dont know why...), and some of the corrosion was around them. I cleaned it the best I can with some of it still being there because I just couldn't reach the areas with a q-tip.

The back of the LCD, the highlighed area was heavily curroded, I cleaned it pretty well.

Put the phone back together and nothing, same thing, but after about 5min, I noticed my screen was some what visible but still hard to see and had alot of lines. I took the phone apart again and mainly focused on cleaning the lcd area, I sanded the tiny chips a bit, and cleaned it with more alcahol, put it back together and nothing, same thing as before.

So my question is... do you guys think the area around the charger plug affects the LCD? If I get a new screen will it fix the problem or should I just get a whole new pcb board? Please help me out, I want to get this thing fixed within a week.

Once you have corrosion in a phone it just keeps going over time. Get yourself a new phone and stop being a nice guy.
