1.turn off gprs set to gsm only , its in settings in connectivity.
2.screen brightness to be set to 50% , its in settings in display.
3.turn off sleep mode clock. , its in settings under display.
4.when playing music minimize the media player/walkman player , this makes the phone only focus on changing the time and date on the stanby screen , also it would help if you DIDNT have an animated theme set as this wastes battery anyway , also it doesent matter wot coulor theme u have it will still have to use every pixel and light it up.
5.in bluetooth set to power saving mode (it does alot more than it says it does) , keep bluetooth and infrared turned off.
thats about it , although if u use different batterys different chargers and have a different firmware , battery life will also vary.
note some of these will work on other se phones.

i was wondering if any one could help. i'm going away for a month in july/august but i'm not taking my phone with me but i want to leave it on so i can still recieve the text and phone calls but i don't want to leave it on charge as it will probs screw the battery up. I've tryed taking the battery out and using the charger but it doesn't have enough power to keep the phone turned on
can someone help me pls??

eerrrr ...... you could leave the phone fully charged and just leave it on although it would probably die after 3 days stanby.

there is no concern when leaving your phone on charge for days on end. The phone only draws power to charge when it needs it.
Consider people who have phones in car kits for 8 hours a day or more, every work day, for months and months etc. They are designed to handle this requirement.
back to topic, most of these have been posted in the various battery discussion threads but they come with a trade-off of course and I prefer to maintain full usefulness and functionality.
Personally speaking, I don't understood the concerns of battery life these days. I'm happy as long as I get a full days operation doing everything I want plus a little in reserve. I can't remember the last time a Sony Ericsson phone ran out of power on me during a day and I always plug the phone into the desk stand/charger when I get home. I also have a USB charger in the office and they're just a few pounds insurance, just in case...

massuer try to stay on topic , but yes i agree i beleive that the phone manages itself when charging so wont overhea or overcharge.
