Hi, just want to share an incident with you so you don't make the same mistake.
I turned on my W800i and it asked if I wanted to copy my contacts from my SIM-card to the phone memory and I chose yes even though I knew all the contacts from the SIM where already on the phone memory.
This caused all the contacts on my SIM-card to show up twice in my contact list. At the time I did not have time to delete these duplicates so went on using my phone without deleting these.
I just now saw from my phone bill that I the last few days have made quite a lot of expensive calls ("call-charges" - when you call a number but no one answers) and sent text-messages to all different contries.
I have now found the reason for these strange calls. It turns out that the phone for some reason had put a plus-sign "+" in front of all the duplicate numbers so when for example wanting to call a contact with the number 28101010 it became +28101010 which means country code 28 and phone number 101010 which in this case directs the call to Angola!
Some days went by before noticing this because some contacts (which was only on my phone memory and not SIM) worked fine.
Just a heads up so no one makes the same stupid mistake. Don't know if other phones than W800i acts this way. |
