Hi.
Just upgraded my T39m from R2G to R3B. It works great.  I've got it back with all my adresses, hiscores and settings!! Someone told me that everything has to be deleted...
Could just see some few changes:
- Name of sender when reciving SMS
- E-mail works 100% with GPRS and GSM
- Better graphics in Snake (secret game)
- When sending SMS you can choose frome phonememory, SIM, unknown numbers, and groups
Has these changes been made in other upgrades beetween R2G and R3B?
Anyone other with R3B or later that knows about other new functions?

They all seem to be there in R3A. Also the call list shows an icon for home, mobile, work or other to show where the caller called from. |

do you mean the large text display on some of the menus? i do experience it now. do you know why? it seems that with this version, we cannot control the display to our preferred settings. is this a bug? |

You guys are lucky!
The local service points (and even the local ericsson office) says that they don't have the hardware to upgrade my phone. A T39m w/ R2G firmware on R1B h/w.
I'm waiting for a friend to fly back to Singapore or HK to have it upgraded there.  |

thay's what i've been told too actually.
my hardware is R2B.
so, it definitely shows that they have the wrong software for a given hardware released in a certain market, doesn't it?
and if so, will they release that software?
if not, then why do they still manufacture those units with the same components?
ericsson phils. imports its units from singapore. so let's hope they have the components for your hardware upgrade. we seem to be equally lucky, are we not? |

i've upgraded mine to R3. It has new functions as you've listed but there are some bugs that were not present in R2. For example when on a wap page with input fields, phone pressure you to enter text in every field even it's not required. It's so annoying when searching for data in several categories.
for exampla on my site, when searching people for property you don't have to fill all fields so you can get more results but this with this version you have to fill every field and results get norrower.
plus new features when you are on wap and get new sms, it's displayed in foreground. Previous version was keeping it in background.

I just upgraded my T39 from R2G to R3B.
Seems like it had problems connecting to my Palm IIIxe. The phone will auto reset when attempting to do a connection via GPRS.. =(
It has no connection problems previously with R2G. Any one has similar problems?

Master reset .. means that all the data in my phone will be gone rite?
didn't actually backed up my data since i lost my cd.. =( |

No need to Master reset the phone!
When you upgrade the phone from R2G to R3B there will be some corruption to the Data Accounts. Deleting them and setting up agian will be enough.
The corruption will show by boxes behind the connections name and if you select the setting, press Yes the phone will hang.
Trying to connect to GPRS to connect to WAP or the Internet the phone will freeze and restart. I've seen this quite a few times on T39, (Early SW versions) but never on T68. |

thanks for the info merkur..
but i did a master reset nevertheless and it works fine now..
tried icq, palmscape, multimail, wapman all works fine with no auto reset.
but when i try to sync with the avantgo server, my t39 auto resets again.. =(
what can be the problem here?
Ilder, if i could i would buy the t68 but kinda on a budget. =P |
