call bsnl and ask them what plan you have... in 'gprspre', charges are 2paise per kB... in 'gprs49' 5 MB data is free, then charges are 1paise per kB...

no yar!!

gsnl gprs does use proxies!!

but only acces point entry also works on smaller cellphones (which dont hav option of entering primary server & secondary server ips and ports!!)

generaly it doesnt work on better gprs-suited (by this i mean the cell phones whch at least show some good experience of gprs with al those settings , quite a much space,alleast 2.1" screen etc),when u dont enter ip and pots or enter wrong ip or ports!

BUT i think may be entering ip and port is not mandatory in cse of full gprs like the 49 and 199 plan!! as dat is full gprs and even direct DNS ip entry will also work!!

no if you leave proxy blank or disable proxy, even then it'll work... if you put any damn proxy, still it'll work... the access point only is required, rest is taken 'care' by apn itself...

@autif

browsing is pretty fast be it edge or gprs...... but if u don't have edge coverage...... then u r likely to get mad with the download speeds..... pathetic 3.7KB/sec on gprs....... and 24KB/sec on edge........

this is for my area..... here gprs speeds of airtel r way better than bsnl...... one can reach upto 5.5KB/sec on airtel.......... but for edge its the other way round..... airtel is maxed out to 17KB/s only when compared with bsnl's 24KB/s........

final conclusion bsnls good for edge and airtels good for gprs...... both don't give out ne probs for torrents and p2p applications.......
