Orange and Vodafone - Differences |

Can anyone give me a run down of the differences between Orange and Vodafone in the UK? I'm with Orange at the moment, but they want a lot of money out of me to upgrade to the W810i (I pay £25/month and the best price they could offer was £119). As a new customer I could get it for free, but all their new plans are rubbish. Vodafone are offering a better deal with Stop the Clock, but I don't know them very well as I have been with Orange for years. One difference I'm aware of is the way they notify you of Voicemail messages - are there any others? What are Vodafone like when it comes to upgrades? |

tell them you are leaving...they will upgrade you for free!! 
try getting the n80 instead...they charged me £30 only on £30pm plan |

Vodafone didnt let me upgrade for a W900i so i had to take out a new contract....also Stop the clock is evening n weekends |

vodaphone has horrid branding! vodaphone has always seemed to be expensive to me (in terms of pay as u go) and vodaphone do not have a great selection of pay as u go offers imo. they do seem like a stable network though so if the price plan meets your needs then just switch. just make sure you have cross network minutes if you are planning to phone other orange mobile phones.

Thanks for your replies so far. I'm leaning towards Vodafone, but I just want to make sure that there are no nasty surprises before I do.

I did - the initial offer was £180, but they wouldn't go any lower than £119.

My current plan has 120 anytime minutes plus 120 evening and weekend minutes. The plan I've seen over at Vodafone is 200 minutes, 250 texts and Stop the Clock for the same money - probably a better deal. Rollover minutes are also important to me as I don't always use my allocation - you lose any unused minutes on all new Orange connections under £30 per month which doesn't appear to be the case at Vodafone.

Hmm - I know. Worse than Orange so far as I can tell. If it's really nasty I will de-brand with Davinci and hope nothing goes wrong with the phone in the warranty period. If it does, I'll probably claim ignorance or try and change it back before getting it repaired! |
