Okay, there are 56784567489 threads on this idea, but i want to be a little more clear.
my boss is looking to get the k-jam (called something different, it is on verizon wireless USA), and he is paying for a wireless data card on his computer right now. He wants to know, if he cancels the PC card, and puts full data on the phone, if he can get on the internet on his PC VIA his phone (like as a BT modem), okay i KNOW you can do it. i just wanted to look for a guide, and i really want to know how reliable it is. is it decent speeds?

i suppose its all network dependent. But i use my jasjar as a modem for my laptop, and get speeds of around 56k,not fantastic.but fine for sending and recieving emails,and a few other things.

its network dependent for the speeds... but a network cant block the ability to do this can they? |

GPRS speeds are generally the same across network providers, its the handset GPRS class that can make the difference. Not many can make it to 56kbps in my experience, certainly no  phones because they are generally class 10, as is the k-jam and jasjar. 40kbps is a more realistic expectation
if they have granted GPRS access on your service then they can't block you specifically using a laptop via k-jam.
as for actually doing it.
When you pair the k-jam to your PC you should get a virtual com port which links to the dial up networking (DUN) on the k-jam.
In control panel, phone and modem options, modems tab, click that modem (probably called standard dialup over bluetooth link), properties, advanced
in the extra initialisation commands simply put
AT+CGDCONT=1,"IP","internet"
where internet is the APN for your service providers GPRS
again, in the control panel, open network connections, create a new connection, and go through the settings being sure to choose the modem from above.
when thats done double click the connection and for the dialing number use *99#. That causes it to connect to the connection specified by the CGDCONT parameters above
thats pretty much it as I recall!
