Apple is punishing Samsung for talking publicly about its role in the next iPod ranges.
Apple has renewed its relationship with SigmaTel to make the MP3 chips for its iPods, even though Samsung was tipped to win the contract.
Last month, Samsung made the mistake of telling the world that it had won the contract for the Shuffle and Nano iPods.
Apple's spiritual and temporal leader Steve Jobs was furious that the announcement had been made before the contracts had been signed.
Apple prefers that no-one knows what it is up to in case people might comment on it. In the end Jobs decided that Samsung would lose the Shuffle business as a punishment and has propped up SigmaTel at least for another year.

I suppose its fair enough. Its cut-throat out there at the moment and advantages can be lost due to blabbermouths giving the game away.
