Hi everybody...Im pretty new here and was hoping to get some help on the following. I was a Voicestream subscriber prior to the name change to T-Mobile. I currently use the T39..unlocked...bought aftermarket since Voicestream did not carry it. My question is...the phone display currently still says VStream...is there anyway to change that so it displays now T-Mobile? Will that change automatically? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The name of the provider you see on your cell-phone screen is based in the software.
To see the T-Mobiles name by using the Voicestream sim-card you have to update the software version to the LATEST...
Even if you replace your old Vstream SIM Card with the new one you still see Vstream...
That you need is to update the software...

Forget about that if you are in the USA...
If you are to Europe you can easy go to one Sony Ericsson Dervise point.

ring VoiceStream/T-Mobile and ask if they can update your sim remotely, in the UK customers are advised to text 'logo' to 80254 to display the new name when they call customer services.

i had my network name changed to WORLD when my cousin worked for T-Mobile so i know it can be changed by them and works in all handsets.

It used to say VStream in my T68 and T-Mobile in my wife's T68i.

I now have a P800 and the funny thing it switches between T-Mobile and VStream. I find it very odd but also amusing.

Someone has an explanation?

It seems like it depends on what area I'm in or what base station I am getting my signal when it comes to displaying VStream or T-Mobile.

You are right amagab. I'm in California and it says Cingular all the time because T-Mobile shares network with Cingular. I wish there is a way to change it to whatever & whenever you want.

Even though I'm a T-Mobile customer I'd rather have Cingular on my phone display than VStream.

I have the Panasonic GD87 and it displays Voicestream. I live in New Orleans and the networks here are Voicestream and ATT Wireless. These are the choices I get when i search for networks. I still have the old Voicestream SIM card in it. I went to the T-mobile store and they told me to have that changed I needed to change the SIM, for a 20 dollar fee. Well, as much as I'd like to see T-Mobile in my screen, it's not worth 20 bucks

does it matter what it says on the phone? mine changes from Vstream to Voicestream depending on where i am.. but when i'm in cali it says cingular coz thats what it roams on.. it nevers says t-mobile.. why can't they upgrade us on plans? why do we have to resign contracts to get the deal that current t-mobile users are getting for the same price?
