I came across a Java IRC client, WLIrc, and downloaded it... however, whenever I tried to connect, I got an "Exception: null" error. I couldn't get it to connect through a HTTP proxy either. Then I found jmIrc. I installed it, set it up and the same thing happened: I got an "Exception: null" error, and it wouldn't connect through a HTTP proxy either. According to the supported models list, the K700i should support sockets; WLIrc, though, thinks otherwise. My network is TMN... maybe there's something wrong in the internet settings?
