don't panic you obviously haven't read the letter properly - the orange ISP dial up number is closing - nothing else - your e-mail can still be accessed via wap on the orange homepage (go to mail) or the orange.net website - you will need gprs to download e-mails to your phone via pop3 - I can give u the settings if u want. |

I've been calling Orange customer services and emailing their Web people and it appears that
[1] The Orange ISP dialup finishes 15 November
[2] Your orange.net account will remain valid after this time
[3] You will be able to access it via WAP, Web, AND dialup
[4] To do the latter, you'll need to sign up to Freeserve for a dialup account
[5] You don't have to sign up for a contract account with Freeserve, you can just register for a PAYG account (I think aout 1p per min)
[6] Once you have a Freeserve dialup, you can use this profile in your phone to access the orange.net POP3 mail direct. (And, of course, use whatever email client on your desktop PC to access it.)
[7] Orange claim that you will also be able to send emails via Orange SMTP through Freeserve -- they say they have done a deal which will allow you to do this.
[8] Even if point 7 isn't true, you can use the free Freeserve email SMTP but tell your phone/email client to list the return address as orange.net
It's a pain, but once sorted out you should still be able to use orange.net. |

@boyi - do u use gprs for e-mails or wap access aswell - if u use for wap then there is a data 'pack' which is 10mb for £4.00 a month - not sure if u can have it with ED50 though - it is alot cheaper though - oh & u will still need the £4.00 0.5mb bundle to download e-mails to ur phone (or you could not bother & do it via wap) |
