My bother had his T610 on his lap and when he was getting out of the car, his T610 fell and hit the ground cracking the screen. The T610 was brought 2nd hand, so has no manufacture guarantee.

He can still see the menu on the screen and it seems to be working ok.

He is wondering if it is worth fixing the screen and how much would it cost or would it just better getting another new mobile instead?

I have attached some pictures of the damage on the screen.

The screen is very easy to replace and depending if you want to spend the money on a new phone a screen will not be very expensive.

Found one for £11.50:

@ Hustl£r: Thanks for the reply. The thing is that neither of us know how to take the phone apart, so was thinking to take it to a mobile shop to get it repaired but we wondering how much they will charge!

A phone shop will really go to town with repair prices! If you want im willing to do it for free as long as a new lcd is provided (to fit!!) and you pay the postage costs as im comfortable with doing this as i repair phones as a hobby.

This is very easy to do and i can guide you through the process, this was the first phone i ever opened and is very simple.

If you take the phone to a local market or small phone repairs shop you shouldn’t be looking at anymore then £20, and if you have the new screen for them to just pop in it will be even cheaper - but i would take hustl£r up on his offer

Thanks for the offer. Hope you don't mind me asking if you have any feedback or references regarding your service as i'm a bit wery about sending my brother's phone to someone who i don't know!

I think the handset is locked to Orange at the moment. The housing is still in very good condition so that wouldnt need to be changed only the LCD.

I'll get some quotes around the local mobile shops here first and see what they will charge to repair it first.

Ok. Would you need a special equipment llike the torx screwdriver to take the screws out and phone apart?

@ Catalyst: That's still not too bad if shops do charge for that kind of repair. Through i know some also add labour charges on top which bumps the price up!

Hi,

I have got some references in the a-z trusted traders list (look at my sig) but would like to build up some more refernces so im willing to do it for free and wouldnt want to spoil my reputation on Esato with over 500 posts!

I dont need any equipment as i have all that so all i would need is the lcd and phone and battery and if you wanted new housing fitting that aswell and just tell me if you want it unlocked/unbranded/new firmware put on.

As for the mobile shops, generally they do seem to overprice on repairs as the public dont know the cost of parts and my brother used to work in a phone shop and the cost of replacing a £6 speaker was £45, outrageous!!

Anyway, enough waffle, if ur interested or have any more questions just ask

Ok. I'll have a look at your reference. But in the mean while i shall get some quotes then take it from there.

Oops, i meant if i needed any special equipment like the trox screwdriver to open the phone. I know and seen you can get some step-by-step guides on how to open up and repair mobiles on the internet.
