Are you certain it's a blanket 'no' across SE?
I thought the resolution of the clip had more to do with playability than anything...

unless you have a P series with 3rd party software no SE can play avi.
If your comparing an mp4 and 3gp of the same file size then I think MP4 is the winner

mp4 encoded with the right settings is comparable, and at times better than avi. Of course, non symbian se phones do not support avi
