First i thought this must be a wind up but no its TRUE,Fiat are set to become a manufacturer of 'high-technology' goods as they are soon to begin rolling out a range of Fiat-branded devices including mobiles phones this month.
ESATO NEWS
These exclusive phones include all the technology that mobile phone consumers demand such as an MP3 reader, digital photo and video camera and cinema facility. The new Fiat-branded range of mobile phones are proudly emblazoned with the Fiat logo in finished in the traditional dark blue colours of the historic brand and bodied in a simple 'cold' aluminium. They are embedded with the latest technology including internet browsing, music (MP3) playback, email, digital camera and video, photo albums and Bluetooth. Fiat have already invested in rolling Bluetooth capability across their auto range and a new integrated service, Blue&Me, developed in partnership with Microsoft was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March.
The full range of new phones and devices will be available in selected designer 'concept' stores and boutiques across Italy this month, and then around Europe during the summer period.

Funny, they changed the name of FIAT
FIAT is an acronym which stands for:
Fabbrica
Italiana
Automobili
Torino
(Italian Car Manufacturing Turin)
In the pic the FIAT acronym has been changed to:
Fabbrica
Italiana
Alta
Tecnologia
(High Tech Italian Manufacturer)
I am still not that sure they will truly be on the store shelves...
Anyway, I would have loved to see some specs and the user interface of these phones...
Personally I think it is an interesting strategy to explore new markets (after a successfull (at least in Italy)) fashion collection.
On the other hand I think they should first concentrate on creating reliable and nice cars before trying other stuff.
Italians....
They are always so incredibly creative! Let's hope that tech wise these phones deliver something, otherwise it is going to be a waste of corporate time and resources (btw who is manufacturing the HW and SW of these phones? I doubt they have the know-how to do it...)

one of the phones has a optical zoom and another looks more like a mp3 layer (like a samsung yepp) than a phone.
cant wait to see how it stans out. |

Hmmm presented as cheap plastic MP3 players in transparent pringle tubes doesnt make them appealing to me to be honest.

looks like they have good starting luck don't they! - i hope it's just a good, late april fools!
i agree they can't make cars! they fall apart!!! - also they charge well over the top (2x) the price the same MOT + service cost somewhere else at there dealership! - not good for phones, eh? - me mum owns a fiat punto, and every time a bird shits on it, she wipes it off as quick as possible - but the paint still slightly comes off anyway
nevermind - my dad's shouted at the people at the garage pleanty of times about it - good one...
i don't understand the pringles tubes either - makes it look tacky!
EDIT:::and right, they're just rebranded chinese stuff ain't they?!?!?!? The mp3 looks like it anyway!

Wonder if FIAT will give the same names to their phones as some of their cars...and if Orange were to offer them on contracts...
can you imagine something like:
The all-new FIAT Panda on the Orange Panther! |

Fiat Could also stand for FORGET IDIOTIC ANIMAL TARRIFFS !!
Well i have a punto and if Fiat are starting to make phones i sure hope they do a better job and have better after sales.
Fix it again Tomorrow yes, and Fix it again today.
The styling looks fab but thats the prob, styling always looks good, but when you unwrap at home it starts to fall apart.
What about another Orange Tarriff name, Spirto Dolphino or 4x4 Canary.
May be Fiat and Orange might rebrand there phones (Like they do everything else and call the phones FOAT (Fix Orange Again Today !!)
Or (Forget Orange Animals Tarrifs)
Oh fun this could be !!

I have a Fiat so should I be offensed I don't think so
anyway it seems the video-cam in girls hand is a copy of "go" global
opportunities firms cameras? most probably they only mock-up their logo and
name on these devices. look sleek though. |
