Hello,

My T68i (R2F s/w) always double count the size of pictures.
For example, a 1KB GIF/JPEG will be counted as 2KB in the phone.
Animated GIF is even worse,
a 30KB Animated GIF will be counted over 100KB in the phone.

Is there any solution to solve this problem?
Does the new software of T68i improve it?
Also, does T300 has the same problem?

Thanks
caff

This is really troublesome...
What're the reasons for the double counting?

How do you transfer your images to your phone? Via IrDA? And what software do you use to transfer them? I remeber one post that had the same problem as you and he uses IR and transfer via the SendFile command on Windows XP [addsig]

I have tried many methods but the problem still exists.
For instance, I tried to send pic from PC via IR, receive pic in WAP, receive pic from other T68i via Bluetooth, etc.

So this is a common problem of all T68i........why would backgrounds and theme etc take up far more memory size than their actual size??

I think that this is because when you store a animated gif (lets say 30K) and then select it as screensaver it copys to some form of temp part of the memory (screensaver, background, themes). So basically things you USE will be stored in two places in the memory.
Can anyone comfirm or deny this...
coz it's just a therory of mine

Thats the best possible explanation for this yet. I really don't know the answer either. We need a SE guru here to answer this one for us.

@caff : No, I never encounter such problems. My specs are as follows:

Athlon XP 1.9GHz
WindowsXP Professional
SE T68i
DRS-11 cable
SE Mypictures

I use Photoshop to create my bgs, my screensavers, and i optimise them there. I transfer them via cable to my phone using MyPictures.

Try to shorten the files' name. And then, go to memory status, choose my pictures, see the size of your file.

Yeah, if you go to my pictures and click on the picture's info, it will show that pic's actual size, but if you go to memory status, and then go to my pictures, it will show u then actual memory size that T68i taken up, Dagger, can u check your phone again to see if then actual memory size is larger ???
