OK so i got the W810, and 3 days through, i managed to scratch the lens already. Not deep scratches, really. They look more like smudges. When I hold the phone in my hand when SMS-ing or calling, my fingers tend to touch the lens (theyre not embedded deep enough, imo, unlike the K700) so I carefully wipe it with a brand new T610 cloth (:se: old timers know what i'm talking about. I have loads of those in stock. got em for free from an old friend. who worked for a local distributor. )

I thought said the lens is supposed to be made of scratch resistant material when eyebrows raised re: the lack of lens cover in the w810- and point in fact that I used the very cloth makes disappoints me.

Anyone's got experience with those scratch remover pastes they sell in the hardware?

the most common suggestion offered here seems to be something called displex, not that I have ever used it myself

I've not seen a W810i yet, but doesn't the camera lens have any kind of coating on it?

If so, wouldn't Displex take this covering off?

possibly, to be honest I have no idea so its good that you mention this

having no practical knowledge on this subject, but having read many posts with great claims about displex (though I don't recall reading about your point here), I hoped it might be a starting point for further research by the initial poster

i wont be touching that lens unless it starts getting in the way of taking good pictures. so far blowing dust off the lens and keeping it in the leather case has worked well for me
