W810i Very Poor Quality Camera |

I am disapponted with this camera :-{
I had a Nokia 6630 before this and the picture quality was what i would describe as ok to good. Of course the Nokia 660 having a 1.3 Mega Pixels camera!
My SE W810i has the 2 Mega Pixel camera as you know, but the picture quality is all fuzzy and pixelated. I can only describe it like there seems to be some sort of interference as if you were using a video camera near lots of antenna's.
This cannot be it though as anywhere i am with the phone i get the same very poor quality.
I want to know, do i have a dodgy handset or is this a common problem with these phones.
(Of course i have tried holding the phone as steady as possible and tried resting it on a wall for stability etc.)
The picture below was taken on this phone and is the best quality one i have.

Hmm, it looks alright to me. You cant expect wonders from a 2mp. It really isnt a very high quality camera anyway. But, to make sure, make sure macro or night mode isnt on. Sometimes I forget to turn those off and the picture comes out grainy or fuzzed.

Yeah i don't expect wonders but my Nokia 6630 does better pictures from its 1.3 MP camera!
Also my bro has the SE W800 and his pics are a lot crisper, also that has the luxury of a shutter keeping the lens clean....why remove this?
Thanks for trying but i did just check and i have Macro and Night mode turned off. I have cotton buds here i am cleaning the lens with making it perfect, the phone is just over a week old so not wear and tear?? |

thats the best quality picture u have? something is not right. Try taking a pict outdoors and with sun light then post it here again. If the pict still looks grainy than thats something wrong with your cam |

thats wierd... the pict does look too grainy and lacking details... u cant even read the ´nokia´ sign on your phone...
U said your brother´s w800 takes better picts and that shouldnt be happening because the camera is the same...
Try updating the firmware of your w810 and if that still doesnt work... u should exchange your phone...
ps:i was using an old firmware when i took that pict |

Excuse me i have little knowledge with the SE phones but:-

Many thanks |

i believe that can be done using the phone alone on w810 but i recommend u go to sonyericsson.com (using your pc i mean) and download the software update from the support page. Just install it and follow the steps. |

once i have the firmware downloaded to pc, i then transfer to phone right.
When i plug in USB cable (as opposed to the W800) the W810i gives me the option of file transfer mode or phone mode (excuse me you prob knew this but i am not sure).
So do i need to be in file transfer mode or phone mode.
In phone mode i can transfer files to the phone but only to music and media files. In File transfer mode i see ALL files and folders.
should i go in file transfer mode and put the firware update in the folder 'other'?
And then when i go to phone menu's, navigate to other and install from there?
Sorry i am a newbie

Tried to go to Sony Ericsson website and all the flash on the site is causing internet explorer to come up with a windows error and shuts down the browser window.
has anyone got the firmware update they can email to me by any chance?
Thank you |

Don’t you upgrade the firmware using the “update service” program?
<>Edit<>
I think this is the page you need, dont worrie about it being the download page for the k750i because the software decects your phones model - good luck
