Hi guys n girls

I'm looking to buy an Nvidia 7 series graphic card, but I've got a bit of a tossup between a BFG 7600 GT OC or a BFG 7800 GS OC.
My problem is that the 7600 GT is the best 7600, but the 7800GS is the lowest 7800, so does anybody know which would be better, I'm lookin to run it with top notch games, BF2, F.E.A.r, etc, currently using a 6200 TC, and quite frankly its crap.
My specs are:
P4 3.2Ghz
1Gb RAM
200Gb HDD

Cheers people

The general opinion is that there's not a lot between those two cards. Personally I'd go for the high end 7600 because you might be able to pick one up quite cheaply.

Either one of those cards will do what you want but don't expect to be playing with maximum detail levels at high resolution (1280x1024 or above). You need something like an ATI X1800 for that

well, its a pretty tight situation. Both has its own advantages and dis.
because under stock condition or slight overclocking 7800gs is likely to perform better than 7600.but 7600 has got headroom for overclocking more, coz its made on 90nm where as 7800 is 110nm,
personally id,suggest you a 7800gs and slightly overclock it,because of the fact that 7800 has got a 256bit memory interface bus,its likely that future games will run better on 7800gs.

Well it looks like I can get a 7600 for around £60-£70, but the 7800 is over £100, so can I just ask, is the 7800 really worth the extra money. I just wanna run games like BF2 on high, but the res no more than like 1280X1024.

Cheers

PS Does anybody know how well Oblivion IV works with either card above.
Cheers

I've never used those cards so I can't say for sure how the games you mentioned would run. However, I don't think you'd get consistantly playable frame rates at 1280x1024 and all details levels maxed with either of these cards.

But at 1024X768 with relatively high detail should be fine?
Cheers

Yeah, most games should run ok with those settings. The closest card I've ever used was a radeon X600 and that ran COD2 at 1024x768 with most settings on high.

I can do 1024x768 and mid detail easily on my 6600 (non-gt) so you should be able to do much better with any of these.
Personally i would recommend the 7800 gs due to the 256bit memory architecture but if price is a concern then the 7600 gt should offer pretty much the same performance at the moment and is definitely better value for money considering.

Well,i just noticed that "Leadtek’s GeForce 7800 GS Uses 90nm Nvidia Chip".Obiviously, its better and implies its a 7900 chip!

Well, you wouldnt have problems in running games at high details and 7800 will perform much better than 7600 at higher resolutions.
