I'm on O2 UK, and tried to send a text message this morning from my W800i (ex-K750i, had it for 6 months) and it either says 'sending failed', or that and the message 'message barred'. I've tried resending the message, turning the phone off then back on again with no joy.
I eventually sent the message using my Orange PAYG sim no problems, and he has replied (he is on O2 also but about 15 miles away).
Just found out from O2 customer services that if you are late with your payment, then they will simply cut you off. No warning, the computer just does it. So make sure you pay promptly, and if you change banks, like I did, that your direct debits are transferred properly!

Just sorted the problem.... O2 had barred my sim due to non-payment of my bill! This was due to me changing my bank account to another bank, and I thought the bank had transferred all my direct debits... They hadn't, I've had this problem with a few things.
But what's really pissed me off is that I had no warning that my account was in arrears, no letters, no texts, nothing. I could have gone out, and needed to contact someone in an emergency but not been able to! I'm going to phone their customer services, not a happy bunny

Exactly the same thing happened to me, apart it was that i used my smartcard account from the woolwich to pay and not my Nationwide account.
I took out a new online contract using the details from my smartcard account etc, a month or so later i find i cant make calls etc, so i ring O2 up and they say that they tried to take the money out but they could'nt, i soon swapped the details over and later found out my smartcard aint compatible with direct debits etc, though the details from it were still accepted when taking the new contract out.
I also recieved no warning before being cut off which i was peeved at.

sammy_boy, to be honest mate youre in the wrong, if you sign up to a contract then you have to make the payments, although in your case it was a genuine mistake i dont think you will gain anything mate. i recently didnt pay my phone bill and the morning after it was due it was barred - thats all part of your contract dude, im with orange and it appears orange and o2 have the same policy although im confident that this would be the case with most phone companys....
I can understand your fustration mate but i fear O2 will not give a poop

Happened to a guy i worked beside, he got cut off with no warning, they hadn't taken payment even though all his details were correct. So, through no fault of his own, his phone got cut off.

This is the thing, I got no warning that there was a problem with my account before being cut off, luckily I've got it sorted by making a card payment over the phone so I'm up and running again, but it's a bit worrying that you could be cut off at any time, anywhere if there's a problem they don't bother to tell you about first!
@Lee, you're right, there is nothing I can do, but I lodge a complaint anyway, perhaps if enough people complain they'll at least send you a text or something to warn you of any problems (though I'm not holding my breath! )

I asked if they normally sent out letters, text or any kind of reminder but they said that they now don't do this, just cut you off via the computer without warning!
@anyone on other networks - do you get any warning before being cut off?
