So, I just got my W810 upgrade from CPW. But they have sent me a blummin' Vodafone branded one! The whole point of me buying from CPW last year was that my K750 was unbranded. Ho hum. Can it be de-munged yet or shall I just take it back?

Well it should have been sold to you unlocked, unless you paid for a vodafone one. If you thought you bought an unbrabded one (which is probably the case) you should conact them and demand an exchange.

yes, I'd take them back, especially as you've only just got them and get either a refund or an exchange for an unbranded version.

I called and I can send it back if I want, but he didn't think they would be getting any unbranded ones at all.
It's weird, because I got my K750 off them a year ago (on a Voda contract) and it was unbranded. I just assumed they didn't sell branded handsets at all but I guess I was wrong.
If it can't be debranded I'll take it back, I'd rather have a real K750 than a munged W810! |

CPW is a bit of a mixed bag with unlocked handsets. The majority of handsets on all networks (even Orange!) are sold unlocked through CPW, but certain handsets are network-locked and branded, either because the networks require handsets to have their software preloaded, or due to cost differences between the locked and unlocked handsets.
With the W810i on Voda, they are all branded, however the handset you would get on an e.g. O2 contract is unlocked & unbranded.
Either way, it should be obvious from the box you have, that it is a Vodafone handset.
The answer is check before you buy - there's no obligation for you to be told, unless you actually ask!

Yup, when I opened the packet and saw the Voadfone red box I feared the worse... As I said, I never asked, as I assumed it wouldn't be necessary. Now I know better! Anyway, I debranded it with DaVinci and all seems well

Go to a branch. We have shed loads of the unbranded ones. Sadly they all have the flashy LED problem (the ones that i have tested). Problem is that you may have to move away from voda if you want an unbranded one. As i recall we sell them on o2 and orange, that shouldn't be too much of a problem as voda in all fairness are shite.
