Hi

I'm looking for a new phone and I thought I would try something new. I'm getting fed up with the constant bugs in SE's firmware and my joystick on my k750 seems to be getting worse. Don't get me wrong I love SE phones and have had many of them. I swore never to get a nokia but the N70 caught my eye. Can anyone suggest a SE alternative? I want a smartphone but don't want to carry round a bulky P series. I want 3G plus all the usual gubbins, eg external mem, good cam, mp3 player, etc. My mate has just got a nokia 6280 and it seems ok except it's a bit plasticy!

Any advice would be appreciated. I was gonna get one off ebay, is it possible to unlock them from 3? I'm on O2 and want to keep my number!

I was also thinking of a 6280, which one is best the n70 or the 6280? I really want a smartphone with 3g but can't wait until P990.....

Thanks

Either get W810i or go Nokia way. You won't be disappointed.

Be prepared for awkward menus (IMO) and by no means bug free phones that canīt be unlocked if you go the Nokia way. My 6680 was also annoyingly slow. I have sampled 3-4 N70īs and they were even slower + on one of them the lens protector didnīt activate the camera even after waiting the mandatory 1― minutes I have been told that the current fw has really done miracles with the N70 though!
RE: 6280, i was really close to buying one but went stone cold when i played with a live one. Miserable build quality (creaky, sloppy slide that went too far when phone closed so the halves didnīt match), and i have also seen bug reports worthy of a Siemens from -03
I really do believe that the slider form factor is the inherently worst construction ever actually.. theyīre either sticky/gritty right out of the box or sloppy, and they all become maraccas within a year..

One, no, two words. Sony Ericsson! Just cos SE has bugs doesn't mean the others don't either.

I know that other phones will have bugs but the joystick on my k750 is driving me mad!

Also I just fancied a change and the fact that the 6280 or n70 has edge means faster internet. I just feel like a new phone I think! I've had my k750 for ages!!

Thanks for advice!

Well, if forced to choose iīd take the N70 in a heartbeat. OR i would try to find a 6680, which you should be able to find at a very nice price nowadays. Actually i think the 6680 is better than N70 ergonomically, i donīt like the puny keypad on the N70. Other than that, it looks quite a lot better though..

also, the 6280 is not a smartphone, since you mentioned that you'd like smartphone functionality

I have just got a N80 and it is leagues above any current SE phone, I had a W800 previously and i was finding it incredibly frustrating to use, slow menus and limited functionality.

The N80 is new so the OS will get better and better, especially valid seeing as you can update the firmware OTA.

Also the browser is just the best mobile browsing experience ever.

SE phones do look good, and the cameras are good, but thats about it......

W810, edge and dpad. That's all you seem to miss in the K750, so at least consider it.

I think I'll be getting the N73 as my next phone, although I am not sure, I'll have to see some camera samples first and then make my mind up. As I really want a smart phone, which the K800 cannot offer me on any level...

Also the huge screen and stereo speakers attract me furthermore....!
