Hi
It doe not make a difference how you set the MP3 player's volume. If you play one of the standard tones in the prevue mode, for example alert tone 6, after setting the MP3 players volume as high as you can go, it plays at the correct volume. As soon as you then select the tone, it goes to a softer volume and you cannot hear it a normal environment. I need max volume for SMS alert like I had in the K750i

Yes, I'm having this problem too. Despite setting ring/alert volume to 8 in the settings and profiles, they keep reverting to about 4 for no apparent reason.

I noticed this last night when the SMS alert seemed too quiet, so I played it back whilst pressing the Volume Up key and it was only on half volume, which it shouldn't be.

Umm.. Works just fine in my w800i. Could it be a firmware problem? Anyway I think that you can go around the problem by making a mp3 and "boost" the volume. The same way as in those loud ringtones one can order by phone... Hope this helps

Atleast the nero wave editor can do the job. But I believe that all decent softwares are able to change the music volume.

The point is not that the MP3 is too quiet, because at Volume Level 8 it's quite loud - the issue is that the alert volume keeps resetting to half-volume, making it too quiet.

this is a bug on the W900. actually, what happens is that the first second of the SMS alert plays softly, then the volume increases to normal.

what i did on my phone was to edit the tone and place 1 sec of silence before the start of the alert tone. once you do that, then you get normal volume on your SMS alerts.

it wasn't fixed by SE on the first firmware update. hopefully it will be on the next one.
