I decided to compare two similar Mac and PC models to see which is best value for money, cheapest and what you get for a similar cost. This is what I found:
| | | | Evesham Mini PC | Apple Mac Mini | Processor | 1.4Ghz Intel | 1.5GHz Intel Core Solo processor | Bus Speed | 400Mhz | 667Mhz | Cache | 1mb | 2mb L2 | Hard disk | 40GB 5400rpm | 60GB 5400rpm | RAM | 512MB DDR2 533Mhz | 512MB DDR2 667Mhz | Firewire 1394 | 1x 1394 (Firewire) | 1x Firewire | USB | 2x USB 2.0 | 4x USB 2.0 | Networking | 1x Gigabit Ethernet | 1 x Gigabit Ethernet | Wireless | No | Built-in 802.11g | Bluetooth | No | Built-in Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR | Graphics | Intel 915GM | Intel GMA950 | Built-in Speaker | No | Yes | Audio In/Out | Analog Mic-In/Speaker Out | Digital Optical In/Out | Weight | 1.84kg | 1.31kg | Supplied OS | Windows XP Home | Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger | Runs Windows | Yes | Yes | Runs Mac OS X | No | Yes | Infra-red Remote | No | Yes | Price | £499 inc. VAT | £449 inc. VAT | Delivery | Extra | Free |
The PC is more expensive than the Mac, lower-spec on almost every component and comes with far less included.
What do you think?
