After narrowing which phone i am going to get down to the k750i – I would just like to make sure of some things before I go ahead and purchase one. Firstly I’m sure I read that phones from the car phone warehouse all come unbranded and unlocked to any sim, is this true? Also I have noticed that the k750i is available in two different colours (silver or black) which out of the two gives the better looking finish? And finally, by purchasing the k750i am I in anyway buying a “lower/worse” model then the d750i or are they exactly the same?
Thanks a lot!

I don't know about the first point. I've only ever seen the K750i on sale in black. The D750i is a K750i in a modified (silver) W800i shell.
The K750i is a great phone.

The silver K750 is not nearly as widely available as the standard black one; I think Vodafone had theirs in this scheme (complete with all the Vodafone-infested branding...), but they don't seem to have any K750's in the PAYG section of their site anymore, although the W800 is still there.
You CAN get a silver one sim-free from either www.expansys.com or www.mobilefun.co.uk , but you're looking at just over 200 quid from either site then...!

Pop into your local CPW and they will verify that their PAYG K750 stock is unlocked and sim-free. |

On car phone warehouse they offer the silver or black models on some networks, but i think i will just go for the black one because my brother is buying a d750i so at least our phones will look different. I guess i will just have to buy the phone because the nearest store to me is just over 40km away - if the phone comes and it is locked to orange how do i make it so my t-mobile sim will work in it? Also will the phone come with orange branding on the case? |

If the phone is orange branded the housing will have a small orange logo on it and the firmware will have all the orange logos and you will need to get it unlocked to work on any other networks apart from orange. If you want it unbranded and unlocked just me me and i will be able to sort it out for you.

The silver is totally out of stock on the CPW site, hence I didn't mention it then.
Unlocking the phone can be done at most smaller independent mobile phone shops; some will charge a tenner, some charge more and some may ask less.
Remember that unlocking any phone invalidates the phone's warranty with immediate effect.
Alternatively, you could phone Orange and they can unlock the phone by giving you an unlocking code... at a higher cost though.
Either way, the phone will then accept the T-Mobile sim, but then you'll need to get all the WAP/ GPRS settings etc. from T-Mobile.
As regards CPW, just phone their sales advice line tomorrow to check the K750 sim-free/unlocked status with them before ordering online: 0870 087 0870, Mon to Fri 8am to 9pm, Sat 9am to 5pm and Sun 11am to 5pm.

Hmmm i think i might be best waiting until the weekend and going in to town and having a look in each of the mobile phone stores to see who can offer me the best deal because i don’t want the phone to have other network labelling on it and getting it unlocked sounds like a hastle. Does anyone know if the high street phone shops will barging/budge there prices depending on what the other shops are offering or are they stubborn and will just make up some bull why they cant lower the price? |
