Hey y'all. I have a nice K750i that has been a great phone.

I find myself displaced to the USA for work. I'll be here a while. My phone works great - but I'm roaming, so it's expensive. I'm trying to find a good way to circumvent those LD / roaming costs.

Does anyone know if the K750i is capable of working with multiple phone numbers? i.e. if I could get a local phone number here, could I configure my phone to accept either number? (wouldn't have to be at same time.)

Does multiple phone numbers imply different/multiple networks or network profiles?

What I want is a "local alias" phone number, so that I can make/receive calls as local while I'm here. Essesntially, I think the phone would have to recognize itself as a local number in order to "stop roaming".

I know cell phones are cheap, and I may just go out and get another one, but then I'm carrying 2 phones - kind of annoying/cumbersome.

Any thoughts/ideas?

I'm on Rogers in Canada, but currently my signal is being picked up by Cingular.

Thanks.

Simply buy a local pay as you go sim card, and as long as your phone is unlocked to any network, all you need to do is put the local (US) sim in the phone and power it up as usual. Obviously, if you wanted to use your original sim card you'd have to turn the phone off, swap the sim cards back and power back up again.

Not sure what the US mobile market's like, but I'm sure you can go to a phone shop and buy a local sim card cheaply.
