Fujifilm Digital joins forces with National Geographic magazine to offer photo enthusiasts the chance to shoot an assignment with the magazine.

Many budding photographers can only dream of seeing their pictures printed in National Geographic magazine, an ambition usually achieved by just a handful of the world’s top professional photographers.

Fujifilm Digital and National Geographic magazine have teamed up to give one talented amateur photographer the chance to go on assignment with globe-trotting, adventure photographer Bill Hatcher and see the results published in a special three-page feature in an upcoming issue.

Fujifilm is set to make one lucky amateur photographer realise a dream with their digital camera.this competition is not open to professional photographers.

The mission is to interpret the theme “morning, noon and night", producing a trio of shots depicting anything from people, places and landscapes to cityscapes, moods and movements - it doesn’t matter if it’s at home or abroad. Entrants should ensure that the three shots, along with a brief description (no more than one hundred words) provide a complete picture of the chosen subject, whilst capturing the essence of the changing day.

Amateur photographers can take part in this competition using any digital camera, however the renowned sensitivity capabilities of Fujifilm’s latest Real Photo Technology cameras might make shooting at morning, noon and night a little easier!

An expert panel of judges will select the winner, before whisking them off on an all expenses-paid assignment in the UK - the exact location is being kept under wraps for now - to shoot a series of images to appear in a special Fujifilm promotional feature in National Geographic magazine. The winner will be accompanied and supervised by Bill Hatcher and armed with their FinePix F30 Zoom.

Second and third placed photographers will also receive the FinePix F30 Zoom, whilst fifty runners up will win a copy of the recently published National Geographic Field Guide ‘Action and Adventure’.

Will Rolls, Marketing Manager-Digital Imaging, Fujifilm says: “Shooting a feature for National Geographic magazine is recognised by some professionals as the ultimate photographic achievement. The theme of ‘morning, noon and night’ is central to what Fujifilm is about - we are highlighting the fact that the next generation of digital cameras will have to have the sensitivity to perform in all lighting, not just bright sunlight. We’re anticipating a phenomenal response to this competition."

David Middis, British Isles Edition Sales Director, National Geographic magazine said: "This is a spectacular opportunity for an amateur photographer and highlights our commitment to be driven by the best content and the best photography. It is great to work with Fujifilm who are equally passionate about photography. Our collective resources and expertise form the perfect partnership to create National Geographic magazine's first ever British Isles photography competition. We're delighted that it will help one lucky amateur photographer realise their dream."
