Why you should get it:
-Looks better (in most people's eyes)
-Replacable faceplates (good if you like that kind of stuff)
-No joystick worries
-Swivel form factor, the WOW effect when you show it to people
-Walkman application
-Some minor functionality enhancements, power button profile switching, copy and paste etc.
-Better headphones

And that about covers it

EDIT: -Forgot about the gaming buttons as well

As previously stated above and also:

-Much louder than the K750 due to having 2 speakers (Also much louder than the W810)
-Custom themes with flash menu's
-Worms Forts 3 and Gauntlet for games

These are valid comaprisons as I also own K750, W800, W810, W900 handsets.

The only downside I can see with the W550 is that it doesn't have memory stick support. Although it does have 256MB internal memory which is more than enough for what I use it for.
The 1.3mp camera is quite good but not as good as my S700 was. I've now bought the xenon flash attachment for the W550 and pics are much better with it.

Also. I use my W550 all the time. The other phones are back in their boxes.

Rookwise: xenon flash? i only heard of the mxe-60 flash attachment- is it actually xenon?

maggflodd: everything they mentioned up there ^^^ is also in the w810, except for the stereo speakers. but then again, the k750 looks so similar to the w810 you might not appreciate it all that much

Well again, thanks! Am really tempted - however had promised myself to patiently wait for larger screen, i.e. K800 etc, but it'll be a lifetime until they'll be an option in oiland/o2 and ... I'm in an upgrade mood. W550 screen identical to k750's??? (My old v600's much better than k750's!). And yeah, can live with 256mb!
???can handle be 'cut' off, or is there a'thg inside??

The mxe-60 flash attachment uses a Xenon discharge for a flash.

Forget the W810 as its just a K750 with a different housing on and a few very minor software changes (the W810 speaker is a lot quiter than the K750's speaker as well)

The screen on the W550 is bigger than the K750.

Edit The Handle is actually the phones antenna so I dont think cutting it off would be a wise idea

You shouldn't. The W550i is a plaything in comparison to the K750i. I have both. The swivel design irritates, too. But if you want something with speakers (and only 256MB memory), that 'looks good', etc. go for it. [addsig]

well the 'very minor changes to software' part is subjective; i sure wouldnt look back to w800 when i now have copy/paste in the editor, better mms profile system (useful when switching from one sim to another) and background SMS sending, as it is in Nokia series 60 phones (useful when sending to 10+ people)

I have owned a W550 and loved it. The only flaw with it of course is the fixed 256mb memory. I recently changed it to a K750i. (I don't like the W800). And have a 512mb memory stick in it.

Well, thanks...abbafan,
Food for thought, as I own a k750i as stated above...hmmmmh. In fact, when I'm considering 'upgrading' to a w550, I mean buying one as a nice fun back-up for my k750. Knowing what I know, I'd want to switch to a k750i from whatever other (if it had a bigger screen, I'd rent it a flat and plan a family with it...) phone! K750i is brilliant - there are flashier, more-features, better-blahblah handsets (not only S.E.) but overall (pricewise, reliability, etc. to me still a reference phone). So, maybe my post shoulda been more specific: W550i a nice entertaining back-up for k750i lover with a thirst for diversion??? So far it seems I could do worse (I've tried, ehem..., Nokia 6680 and N70...HOW can they feel so toy-ish?! And I don't mean the in-store mock-ups, but the real things)
Anyhow, again: Thanks, y'all! (maybe I'll buy a PSP and a Nokia 1101 instead... I'll let you know!)
And abbafan, you won't regret your choice! My k750i (also 512mb, SD)
has seen so much (ab-) use, and in 9 heavy-usage months zero trouble!
Joystick... As new; firmware never updated, all perfect, etc, etc, and you'll find loads of useful and/or diverting downloads. [addsig]

i owned a k75 which i upgraded to w800. when it became broken, i switched to the w550.

after the initial period of thinking how shit this new phone was compared to the w800 i actually quite liked it.

the stereo sound through phone only is great.

my biggest problem was the swivel. i could not get on with it at all, and left the phone open 99% of the time.

when you open the swivel, the phone ends up upside down in your hands. swivel open does not accept or end calls....

when open, the phone is significantly larger than the w800...

read my post about W550i review!
but ill give u a short sum:

First of all if u ever swap a K750i for a W550i u are the dumbest person on earth! k750i camera beats W550i by very far!!!
secon when u open it its large and its thick when closed!
thirdly when u have opend the phone u sometimes forget the direction u opened with! and because u cant do 180 degree's and u close it the other way to hard ur will end up a broken phone! not that happend to me
but never the last the white screen of death!!! it is so common on the W550i some say its the firmware but it still screws up ur phone! my phone is now in service becuase of that! so i went out to buy a W800i which is a much wiser choice!!! it beats it by far!!!
~ext. mem
~2MP
but down side is W800 is quiet in music !

but yea W800i is much wiser choice and if u change a K750i for W550i ur an idoit!!!

Cheers,
~BLEACH~
