Can someone tell me what ones are available and which are best. Particularly, are they able to pair with multiple devices simultaneously, as both em and my wife have t68i's and either or both can be int he car at the same time. |

Parrot CK3000.
Have had it almost a year, still love it.
Does support multiple users (phones), up to 5 if I remember correctly, although I'm not sure about simultanously. But then, one phone can be set as "master", and the CK3000 only has a bluetooth connection to your phone during synchronization (right after ignition start) and during a call. Cost is about EUR 350. Installation is about as difficult as installing a radio (easy!).

Did you install yourself ? Was the radio mute a problem ? Any down side to this unit ? Looking to buy one soon or a HCB-30 (but its not out yet) |

I installed the CK3000 myself, radio mute was not a problem (single wire that gets connected to your radio, your radio manual will tell you how).
On the highway, with lots of backgound noise, I sometimes have to say my magic word twice for the carkit to recognise it, and I haven't found a simple way to delete individual voice tags yet, but that may have been solved in the current sofware version (mine dates back to start of this year). It's got a lot of pro's, no serious cons, as far as I'm concerned. I've never lost or missed a call while using the CK3000.
Incoming calls are announced by the caller's name (if you have a voice tag for them). You can then accept or reject the call by voice command, or you can set an option so the CK3000 automatically picks up after 2 or 3 rings. The current version I think also has a small box with a "yes" and "no" button that you can put somewhere on the dashboard. I imagine the use is optional - I don't need it.
If you're not convinced this is a good carkit, call Jean Todt of the Ferrari F1 Team - he had a CK3000 installed in his Ferrari Maranello 575...

One last question (possibly), wiht the installation you said that your radio manual tells you where to connect the wire, as someone who has only his factory installed raido with no manual, does the parrot kit manual not tell you where to connect the wire?
It sounds great, if the installation is simple enough, I definitely want one.
One other question for anyone who may have used this with a Toyota Prius, any complications? |

The reason you'll need your radio's manual is because the Parrot manual shows you which wire handles radio muting on the CK3000, but you'll have to find the corresponding wire on your car radio.
But saying this, the radio mute function is optional. With or without radio mute, the CK3000 takes over control of your radio's front speakers and supplies telephone audio through those speakers when needed, and links through the regular radio audio when not in a call.
The radio mute function merely tells the radio to mute - silencing any other speakers connected to the radio. So even if your radio doesn't have the radio mute wire, you can still use the CK3000 with it.

So if you don't hook up it will work through the car speakers but won't mute the radio, if I understnad correctly it will still override the radio in the main speakers? |

Correct - if you don't connect the radio mute wire the CK3000 will still cut sound from the radio going to the front speakers.

I also hear (people ordered the kit and had to return) that if your car has a Bose audio system the CK3000 will not work, or at least no has figured out the wiring |

I imagine the Bose system would have active speakers then? That's the only reason I can come up with why it wouldn't work with the CK3000.

I bought the CK3000 and had problems getting it installed because of the external amplifier.
The dealer tried it very hard (~10 hrs), but in the end he came to the conclusion, that it won't work with my car (;_; )

I guess I don't understand why it would not work with an external amp, what prevents this. it seems Bose is common in a few cars like Lexus, Audi, etc. |
