Regularly locking/freezing now. To the point where its barely usable.
So I've rung up V/fone and I have 2 choices basically.
They will attempt a repair, and failing that.... or
exchange it for a reconditioned one.
The offer of a repair is fair enough.
But a reconditioned one if they can't seems ridiculous.
What are others experiences. ? |

I would start with a factory default reset.
Then check if theres any updates.
Then just add phonenrs and nothing else and removing the memstick.
Just to see if this would make the phone stable.
I had an phone be very instable untill I found out it was something
in the wap profile that made it that way after removing that and installing new profile all was good.
Anyway I recommend troubleshooting the problem like this before sending it in.

when did you first have problems with the phone?
its a shame its over a month, otherwise you can insist on a brand new replacement (i managed to get a replacement 6 weeks after i brought the phone, but 3 months might be pushing it)
when is the phone freezing? any how many text messages are in your inbox (i find when i had the w900 that tended to slow it down slightly)
have you tried updating the firmware online? |

I wouldnt accept a reconditioned phone. You bought a new phone an you expect it to work. If not, they must replace it with a new one.
Are u in the UK? If so, check out the Sale Of Goods Act. |

kippa it does not state where you are from, but here in the uk all phones come with a minimum 12 month manufacturers waranty (nothing to do with the network, although they will do the paper work for you).
that is a 12 month repair or replace waranty. replace as in brand new phone.

that is not true, they DONT have to replace it with a brand new one.
the 12 month manfactures warranty means they will repair or replace with a reconditioned one. i wouldnt try and demand a brand new phone, just try and reason with them.
its important where you got the phone from?
a place like the link/p4u
or voda (from a shop)
or voda (across the phone) |

I'm in the UK and the phone was bought direct from V/fone. (Over the phone)
It usually freezes upon start up. Sometimes during the process, othertimes upon completeion of the process. Also during the walkman application.
I've emptied the sms in/sentbox. Removed the memory card. To no avail.
Initially I rang V/fone they advised me to do a "hard reset" which was to re-start the phone after removing the SIM, and if that didn't work then they wold send out a new phone. Tried that, no improvement.
Rang back and this time was told to take it into a shop for repair and if this failed they would offer me a re-conditioned phone.
So the option is clearly there for a newbie, I'll just have to stand my ground.
Though I will give them a chance to repair it. I think there is probably a firmware fix for this but there is no online facility. |

do you remember when you had the problem? was it in the first month? and if so, did you ring voda.
if so, phone them back and make them aware that you had this problem within the first month, insist on speaking to a customer service manager, and write down all the names/times you speak to people. u should be able to get something from them.
-they promised me a black w900....they couldnt provide it, so i ended up with 1 month free line rental and 25 quid of my account. complaining gets you somewhere! just try not to get angry (its quite easy to though!) |
