HI,
SOME GOOD NEWS. I HAVE HEARD FROM RELIABLE SOURCES THAT ERICSSON WILL BE EXPANDING PRODUCTION OF THE T68 BY 250%! THAT MEANS MANY MORE T68S IN SUPPLY AND PRICES ARE LIKELY TO FALL TO SATISFY THIS EXCESS SUPLLY.
AS THE T68 IS IS IN ITS SECOND QUARTER OF SALES, PRICES WILL FALL AS ERICSSON CONCENTRATE ON MORE PRICE SENSITIVE CONSUMER GROUPS WORLWIDE - MOST OF THE CONSUMERS IN THIS FORUM ARE IN CONSUMER GROUP 1, WHICH WERE PRICE INSENSITIVE FOR THE T68 AND GOT THEIRS FIRST.
ERICSSON HAS ESTABLISHED THAT GROUP 1 DEMAND HAS BEEN ALMOST SATISFIED TO EXPECT A PRICE DROP IN FEBRUARY. I WOULD SAY 10-15%
THIS MEANS THAT DISTRIBUTERS AND RETAIL CHANNELS SUCH AS PHONES4U AND CARPHONEWRAEHOUSE WILL HAVE A MUCH GREATER SUPPLY OF PHONES AVAILABLE FOR THE T68. THIS WILL FORCE THEM TO LOWER THE PRICE TO AVOID INVENTORY ACCUMILATION.

Yeah I've had a preorder in with smalltalk.co.uk for ages. Still no idea when the phone will be in - I wonder if Orange are waiting for the MMS software - it would make sense. If they delivered the phones now and then a month later MMS comes out.....
Also, I reserved my T68 with Smalltalk on talk60 for 79.99 and I see today the price has gone up to 99.99 !!!

The reason Orange take so long in releasing phones is because the phones they sell undergo certain sets of testing.
From all phones reported faulty, I believe Orange handsets are one of the least likely to be problematic.
One of the best things to do when buying from the UK is to search for phones on the net and then take em to a shop that will be willing to match the price. That way you can get it there and then in the shop, at the price you want to pay.
Cheers
Ed

Well I'm waiting for smalltalk.co.uk to tell me the phone is finally in. If it doesn't have the MMS software I won't take it unless I get a guarantee that it can be upgraded.
It's painful waiting though.
I'm tempted to wait for the 7650 but it'll be another 6 months and is also rather big and heavy in comparison. I have a Nokia 8210 and I don't want anything much bigger. |

I don“t like this price fall because it will mean that more people will have a T68 like mine, and I like to be diferent, and that I paid more and if I knew this I would“ve wait because I used to have a T39 that has baseclly the same software but is less designfull! I bought my T68 looking for the MMS upgrade and know they“re cheaper and maybe already with the MMS!
I“m pissed off

Well I think it's strange the way Ericsson has gone about all of this. It does say
"MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) will be implemented into T68 when services are available to support this feature." on the Ericsson web site but I find it weird that it's gone about it this way. In effect it's released the phone with half it's functionality missing.
As for price drops or rises, I'm sure it's down to individual shops and how they supply them. Who knows.
However if anyone who has a phone now finds out that MMS is not a feature that they can upgrade to, then I think it would be time to get seriously irate. |

yeah, smalltalk have incerased T68 talk 60 by £20 as orange have reduced talk 60 commision by £20!
Expect orange contract prices to rise £20 oer handset.
Each phone dealers sell on the net are usually priced with a fixed margin approx £30. So if they sell an sl42e or T68m on orange talk 60, they want to generate £30 for each connection + other connection bobuses usually £30!
I guess thats good for us t68 users as the T68 on orange will be more expensive and demand would contract! Means less T68 orange sales!!! |

SMASON5 : we will get the mms-upgrade for free.
And I personally wouldnt have liked to wait this long, for the phone to be released.
I bought mine when it was released.
And You couldnt use mms anyway,..so it didnt really matter, if it was there or not.
You're very wrong when you say,.."half of the features were missing, when the phone was released".
The mms were missing,..but people knew that part,..besides that, it practically had everything "as promised".
