No more embedding Flash or Video in posts? |
Jools Joined: May 21, 2003 Posts: > 500 PM |
I've just noticed that if I try to embed an external Flash or QuickTime movie in my posts using the HTML object and embed tags, it no longer works. These tags get changed to something that doesn't work which the post is submitted.
Is this a deliberate change or is something broken?
If its deliberate, why?

i think they removed it because it eats up bandwidth and makes the page take longer to load...

it wouldn't take up bandwidth unless it was uploaded to esato, which can't be done.
Only reason I see is so that it doesn't slow down a page, in which case, I feel that each person is free to choose whether to go to the link or not and a [video] tag could be added to warn them

Or possibly because hotlinking is bad 'netiquette'? Most webmasters prefer people to link to the page that contains the video / animation / photo rather than directly to the file itself.

yes indeed some do,but a lot of the sites actually do provide the codes to directly embed into other websites and forums,so it isn't bad \"netiquette\" as you put it.
