Well, I followed all the instructions to get my T68i to connect to Earthlink ISP in SoCal. I set up the data account and username/password info. The PC finds the phone, lights it up and says "connecting". After about 15 secs or so of trying, it says failed. For kicks, I changed the phone # to my home # right next to me to see if my home # would even ring at all, no go. Seems like the phone's going through all the right motions but not dialing right. I'd use GPRS but it's slow and heck and expensive after you exceed your alloted bandwidth. Not to mention sometimes I have to dial in to a machine at the office to admin it and it would be really convenient if I can get this to freakin work. Any suggestions as to why I cant dial my ISP (or any other #) using GSM?? Thanks.

I suppose you try to download new software packages from SE. In this packages you find a modem configuration wizard. This is the easyest way to configure a modem for t68. But if you use hscsd (to call another modem) you get max 28,8 kbit instead with gprs you get 48 kbit!

Hmmm. I thought I had the latest software installed on my PC. I'll check again. I'm not sure that's the problem though because when I set up a data account in the actual phone itself, tell it to use GSM, and set up an email account to use that data account to connect, it does the same thing... I says it's dialing, connecting, etc., but no GO! It's like it starts to dial but half way something happens and it doesn't complete the call. I called AT&T wireless and to my surprise they don't provide support for setting that up (prolly cause they want you to use their GPR$ net). Then I called SE and I'm waiting for a callback from an analyst to work through it. ARGH! Any other suggestions?

did you subscribe to your operator's fax and data service? if not, that is your problem and not the phone or configuration.

Not sure if they offer it, AT&T just launched GSM in SoCal. Do I just call them and ask if they offer it?

Just spoke with a dude at AT&T and he said that the currently DO NOT support circuit switched calls. So, I guess I found my problem. He did mention that it could change at any time (yea right), but doubtful. As I thought, they want us to use the GPRS net to get online. My problem is, I DONT WANNA GET ONLINE. I want to sial into my corp net at the office. Oh well, maybe I'll look for another provider.

In my experience, you can use the internal modem of your phone even the high speed data is not switched on. The only problem is that your speed will be 9.6k and you cannot send fax, unlike if its switched on is about 57.6 max (if the operator/provider is supported)

Well, I've been trying for days/weeks. Can't get it to dial out anywhere. It looks like it's trying (Says "connecting"), but nothing rings on the remote side. SE should be calling me back tomorrow with a solution, hopefully. Thanks for the help.
