Which do you prefer? I'm wondering whether to sell more phones here on Esato or to continue predominately on Ebay. So far I have the following pros and cons:
Esato-
Pros:-
-No listing fees
-No final value fees
-More reliable buyers? (the only time I've been scammed is here I'm afraid
-Can have as many and larger images of the item being sold as you like(within reason!)
-Possibility of a quick sale and turnaround
Cons:-
-Phones sell for less here generally (though can be partially offset by the lack off selling fees)
-More risk potentially with new members - I get jittery now if a newly-joined member shows an interest, especially if offering a trade
-Can sometimes be either an apparent lack of interest or people making silly offers for phones (e.g. £40 for a K750i or something like that!), you can be bumping your thread away for days with little interest
-More people making offers, then either not getting back to you or not completing the sale
Ebay:
Pros:-
-Larger base of potential buyers - and bidders
-Phones sell for more generally than on Esato, can be a big pro if you have a 'break even point', like after buying a phone with a damaged screen and repairing it, more chance of the item selling for more than you bought it and cost of parts
-More seller protection/safeguards?
Cons:-
-Listing fees/final value fees can be pricey, especially for more expensive phones/items
-Seem to be a huge amount of scammers/timewasters (recently had a problem with a member who won an item to deliberately leave negative feedback)
-Auction time fixed, a quick sale not possible unless you end the auction early and sell outside of Ebay
What do other people think? Which is best in their opinion? Do you sell certain items on Esato and other items on Ebay? Any pros or cons I've missed out?
Let's have some opinions!

I've no reason to believe eBay offers "Seller protection" lol... maybe pretection for the Buyer... but i've been conned a few times selling items.
I prefer esato, a lot easier... I think safer, and generally you get to talk to the person about what your buying/seling before making the purchase/sale.
Also you can make trades/swaps here, which you can't really do on ebay.
Much prefer this, haven't sold a phone on ebay in ages after starting trading here

ebay, since i feel that if your careful and know what your doing, and with the rating/feedback system, you can sell to the right people. also your more likely to get more for your stuff, and that there is a massive amount of people using it from all over the world, so there is always someone that wan't your things, also more choice and better prices for buying...

Quite true about Ebay, would you say that the extra money gained from higher prices from what you're selling offsets all of Ebay's charges? Good point on the trades, though you have to be careful you don't get stiffed on a swap deal, I think I've done a couple which with hindsight I should have asked for a bit more from the person I've swapped with.
I might try selling a few more phones on Esato and see what happens, what kinds of prices I get compared to Ebay.

i never trusted ebay, way too complicated, no chance to check the sellers, that rating with stars is childish imo
esato is the best solution, here i am at home, i manage my deals inside the "family". |

I don't think you can make a fair comparison between the two to be honest. Selling on Esato is more like a local community paper, where as ebay is almost like an ad on the telly.
In the end it probably comes down better to which group you want to deal with, sellers here and buyers are going to be a little more realistic. (EG when i bought my memorycard, i didn't mind that it was only wrapped in the letter that surrounded it, not in any type of smallish casing. (Pretty much what I asked for too)
In the end, for me I prefer esato for some things, but thats because people are a little more flexible here too. |

That seller protection program of ebay/paypal is crap. They basically have a "we-wash-our-hands" policy and they will send you just a bunch of automatic emails whenever you have a problem, but they just won't do anything. So, that's definitely not an ebay's "con" .
I think common sense is very important in general, doesn't really matter if you're dealing here on esato or on ebay.
Anyway... why don't you just use them both? That increases your chances of selling your phones, doesn't it?
